I have an electrolux central vacuum in my house. My central vac hose has something stuck in it, I think, maybe a sock. I tried to put a long dryer wand down it but the hose is just too long. Does this need a repair man or new hose?? Any idea of a way to blow it out? Thanks.

The best way to clear an obstruction is to blow it out by attaching the wall end to the exhaust of a shop vacuum, or using an air compressor.
You can try holding the wand end of the hose directly to the CV in port and turning the machine on. This provides essentially the same action as the previous method.
If neither of these work, try a combination of the two. Or using a shop vac, hold the wall end to the exhaust of the vacuum and the wand end to the in port of the shop vac. Turn shop vac on and the obstruction should come out.
Borrow a good strong shop vacuum if you need to.
If these methods fail, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have the service tech try to clear it. Care must always be taken when trying to clear an obstuction with a long object, especially if it's pointed. I've seen many hoses that have shorted out and even caught fire due to the wiring accidentally being "nicked".

i use a lenth of welding wire with a hook bent in it but a coat hanger would do if you straiten it out first then bend just the first inch of it so it fits inside the hose

Any tricks to putting on a central vacuum hose sock? The last one took me 4 hours and I'm sure there must be an easier solution. It has no zipper.

Send it back and get one with a zipper. :) Okay did it come in a tube or with a tube? They are really necessary when putting a hose sock on. You first want to put the hose sock on the tube. You then slide the tube over the hose and take the hose sock off at the end. Tie the hose sock securely in place and start pulling the tube over the hose. The sock will slide off the tube and onto the hose as you go.

NuTone CV353 Central Vac does not start when hose is plugged into

Try to plug the hose in sideways. So the top of the hose is rotated 90 degrees. If the unit turns on then there is something wrong with the hose. It might be a short or it could be a bad switch on the handle. If the unit still wont turn on I would think that maybe the low voltage wire got disconnected from the unit or there is a break in the low voltage wire somewhere along the way. Let me know if you plugging the hose in sideways works.

I need a new hose for my Electrolux central vac

Do you need a new powerhead too or only the hose? If you need a new powerhead than I would recommend looking at the Imperium Pro Elite Attachment set. It is an excellent quality powerhead and hose. If you only need a new hose than you will need to contact the Aerus because they will be probably be the only company who can sell you a hose that wil be compatible with your powerhead. Their website is http://www.aerusonline.com/products/

HELP!!!

There is no secret to getting items out that are stuck in central vacuum hoses. If you can get something long like a garden hose to insert into the central vacuum hose and push it out or put something heavy down the hose like a screw driver and shake the hose to see if you can knock it loose.

Good luck! and for all of your central vacuum needs visit:
