I received this DVD player from a friend and it does not have a remote. I'm not sure of the product number but it says slimline dvd player and the disc drive is on the far left with the four control buttons on the far right in a diamond shaped pattern. I have tried every number combo with my universal remote from Comcast and still I can not get it programed so I am looking to either buy a new remote or get a good universal remote code, please. Thank you

Look at back of Sony remote (or inside battery compartment) and find the product code. Do the same with your dvd player (product id, model number). Go to Sony website and you may get coding info in the support/download section. Alternatively, there may be a telephone support number that you can dial for assistance.
I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.
To receive a part from Coby please call the above toll free number, or send an email with:
First and Last Name
Home or Cell phone number
Shipping address (Coby doesn't ship to P.O. Boxes)
Model number of your Coby product (It will begin with letters)
You'll be sending a $6 money order to Coby for the remote and they will send the part back to you. The email address is [email protected].

Not sure I can solve, but maybe help. I am having a similiar problem. However, make sure you Analog Audio (RCA type) cable are connected even if using Digital connection between the two. They use those cable to send the Commands (Mentioned in the documentation).
If you did get yours to work, please give me a hint... I upgraded mine from a 603 to a 701 and haven't been able to get it to work since.
