Thread breaking. I have a problem with my thread breaking ...the thread that goes through the needle. As soon as I start it breaks. It seems to be getting tangled in the bottom and I have to keep pulling it out and cutting it where it gets tangled. What do I do? I tries changing the needle. Does this sewing machine take only certain needles? The manual does not say. Thanks, Peggy thread breaking....after threading, start to sew and as soon as needle goes down it breaks and leaves thread in bottom and needle comes up empty

Rethread the machine following these directions:
all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.
Remove the bobbin case and bobbin. Pull on the bobbin thread to make sure it doesn't pull too hard. It should have some tension on it but not a lot. Insert the bobbin and bobbin case into the hook assembly and pull on the bobbin thread again. The tension should still be about the same. If it is tight, you need to look at the bottom of the pin that the bobbin case sits on and see if there are any threads looped around it. If there are , you need to remove them.
Hold the top thread , turn the hand wheel and see if the thread is catching someplace around the hook assembly. If it pulls the thread up easily, put some fabric in it and see how it works.
Make sure the thread is through the take up lever.

SOURCE: Thread breaking.

it doesn't take certain needles. Make sure youre tension isn't too tight, both top and bobbin. Also I found with my Euron Pro that the thread needs to be at the back and I have to hold it kind of tight when I start or it will bunch under the plate and break. Hope this helps. The thread is breaking the whole time, what could possibly be the problem?

Could be several things, ie mis-threading, burr or snag is catching the thread, old/bargain bin thread, needle is not compatible with thread and fabric, tension is incorrect...

The first thing to try (and also the least expensive), install a brand new needle.

Remove the upper thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.

Thread the needles

cheap thread will break easily. Make sure you buy good quality thread. If you want to test to see if this is what your problem is, buy four small spools of Coats and Clark thread, I even use it for embroidering. It doesn't break easily. If it doesn't break, it is your thread. If it breaks, your tension is too tight on your machine.

Top thread keeps breaking. Adjusting the tension does absolutely nothing. It seems as though the thread is getting caught on something inside the machine between the thread guide and thread take-up lever....

these are suggestion, if they don't help then the machine needs to be checked at a sewing machine shop
The top thread breaks

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly

2. The needle thread tension is to tight

3. The needle is bent or blunt

4. The needle is incorrectly inserted

5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing

7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

Top thread keeps breaking, I've re-threaded to make sure it's right, wound and re-inserted a new bobbin, checked the needle to make sure it's not bent (as described in the manual) and put it back with flat...

Not sure if you noticed but if you thread a machine with the pressure foot down it will not thread correctly. There are two little things that sorta looks like symbols for the tension on most machines. (learned this when my viking 600e kept breaking thread and I put it in shop) If you thread the machine with the pressure foot down it closes the symbol things and the thread will break as you described. If you have completed that correctly check the spool of thread. You may have a burr on the thread spool that is catching the thread that too has happened to me.

The first needle thread keeps breaking as it is sewing, while it has material under it, it seems to work for a while but as soon as the material is finished the thread breaks. I've changed thread, changed...

could the tension be adjusted to tightly
is thread feeding off cone/spool freely
also check to see if there are any burrs on the loopers or on the throat plate
here's a tip I learned from a needle & thread expert about needle & thread compatability

Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread
