Codes are to the television maker, they don't change depending on the make of remote used. But as I said, no one buys universals, you buy a copy remote made for the make model you have.
YOU WILL STILL NEED TO PROGRAM THE NEW REMOTE FROM THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE REMOTE. NORMALLY THIER ARE TWO WAYS TO PROGRAM A REMOTE EITHER MANUALLY OR TO DO IT AUTOMATICALLY. YES THE ORIGIONAL REMOTE IS ALREADY SET UP FOR YOUR MODEL OF TV BUT WITH THAT SAID TRY TO PROGRAM IT BY BOTH PARTS OF THE MANUAL. i AM USING A 55 INCH SMART TV AND HAVE DONE THIS AND ON OTHER SMART TV'S. ALSO YOU CAN GO TO THE WEBSITE OF THE REMOTE THAT YOU PURCHASE AND LOOK FOR VIDEOS ON HOW TO SET IT UP. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP LET SOMEONE HERE KNOW. GOOD LUCK.
I think you can source a universal remote which is now available for all types, used exclusively only for tv. if possible you will have to carry your set to the electronic spares store to test the remote for the rightt type or if the store can sell one which can be repplaced if it does not work, you can get the type used for Akai model and they are cheap too..... Hope this helps?
Mike, there is another solution: if you subscribe for comcast cable, they will retrieve the code for you, without you leaving your place.their remotes are learning and can be programmed remotely via you cable box. If you don't have a valid subscription, there is a problem. You might need to get universal remote, what supports this brand. good luck, Alex's TV Service, Philadelphia,Pa, 215-806-5980.
i cannot find the model # to my akai tv/dvd combo where is it? AND ALSO I DO NOT HAVE THE REMOTE TO IT LOST IT DURING MY MOVE. HOW CAN I PURCHASE I NEW REMOTE OR WHICE UNIVERSAL ONE SHOULD I BUY! PLEASE HELP
Target sells a GE Universal Remote Control, 5 Device with learning feature. I can't say if it works with your Verizon DVR, but its code for the Akai LCT3285TA is 1139. If you have the Verizon's remote, you should be able to use the learning function to make the GE control it - that's if the GE doesn't have a built in code that will work for this DVR.
I have an Akai 42"lct & had the same problem. I bought an universal remote URC R6 at walmart for $19. I can now control the tv, u-vrerse cable, panasonic surround system & still have the aux open. You must use the "learn" method but I can control channels, volume, record, menues for all devices as well as setup, record for dvr & more. I hope this helps.........
I have had on order since December 2007 the Akai replacement remote #WIR3500001-EQ01 the Akai TV/DVD combo model #CFTD2011. I called each month for 5 months, being told each time that it was on backorder. A few days ago, I received a letter in the mail stating that this remote is no longer made and is not available.
I too have tried universal remotes without any luck. If anyone has a resolution, it would be greatly appreciated.
