Try to turn off the server. Then press and hold power button on it for 8 secs. Turn the unit on. If the beep continues, then try to tear down the server by removing its cover, then remove/reinsert the RAM memory cassette. Place again the cover and turn the unit on. If still persists, I suggest to replace your RAM stick by contacting your pc manufacturer..

For that if there is RAID configuration make sure all harddrive is recognized in bios and RAID.
Also make sure RAID is showing online status or optimal.
Reconnect RAM memory and all connection to harddrive .
If harddrives are hot swappable then reattach all.
Also enter in bios with F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then load optimal defaults settings.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

  • Go to the exit menu or press F9 to load optimal defaults settings then save settings and exit,

  • Just enter in bios or press esc key so you can see main screen of bios you need to press F9 key at main screen of bios not at exit menu.
    then save settings.

  • it's depend on your harddrive .
if your harddrive are based on SCSI then you need to configure SCSI but if your harddrive are configured as RAID then no need SCSI.But needs to check RAID array.

  • Enter in RAID utility and SCSI you can see installed hrddrive as Array in one of them.

I am getting a loud beeping sound from the back of my Dell Poweredge 1600SC Server this morning. It seems to be operating fine, and there are no warnings on the computer. It IS very dusty inside, though....

Hello,

The sound may be an indicator alert. overheating, unlocked latch, etc. If the system is running ok and no noticable problems with your software, check your BIOS setting for log information related to alerts. If you find nothing of significate problems, you can disable alerts in the BIOS.

Hope this helps. Good Luck

NO HARD DISK FOUND DELL POWERDGE 1600SC

Is the HD SAS/SCSI/SATA on a raid controller?

If so you need to enter the RAID config (not the bios, but there will be a RAID config option during the boot process CTRL+M I believe.. but it will say on screen.) Then you need to set up the raid config, then initialise, then the drive will be detected for loading the OS.

Either that or the drive(s) shafted.

What sort of disks are you using?

Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server occasionally beeps when running

Check out this site:

http://bioscentral.com/postcodes/dellbios.htm

Write down the exact number of beeps and how long they last to find what the error means. The are call BIOS post codes and they resemble Morse Code. (ie. one long, 3 short, 2 long = RAM issue) Good luck!!

1600sc second CPU

Hi

Yes, some systems (newer PowerEdge Servers, generally 6/7th Generation and above) have onboard VRMs.

1600sc is a 6th gen PowerEdge (with Simple Computing). I can checked and be absolute certain from within Dell. I'm on VAC until Saturday.

In the meantime, check the PRC model and revision and ensure that they match. Given that a single PRC POST/Boots, try upgrading (if not already) the system BIOS to latest revision.

If the PRC model/revision does match and you have the latest BIOS version, also if the VRMs are not needed, then from the Troubleshooting you have already done, we may conclude that the PRC 2 slot is faulty.

I will confirm the VRM query on Saturday.

No Video Signal on 1600sc

Disconnect from the network and all other accessories, and power up the system, this might be due to a faulty device attached to the system, eg: when you connect a usb faulty device the boot takes very long time, sometime it does not boot up.

Can not access bois

It hangs there probably becuase one or more of the drives are dead or are almost there. Check and see the lights on the drives are falshing funny or too long or are yellow. If you find one of them that are that way, pull it out and then reboot.

See if that helps.
