Yamaha wx5 out of tune (1 tone to low) and pitch bend wheel working up but not down...

Whether it happens to all of the key?
If yes, transpose setting may have changed. Change the setting to normal (0).
If the normal transpose, but tuning is still not standardized, check Pitch Setting.
To Restore Standard Pitch setting:
Hold down the A-1, B-1, C0 and C # 0 keys simultaneously and press any key between C3 and B3.

Turn off the power to the instrument. Then, simultaneously hold down the C7 key (right-most key on the keyboard) and turn the power on again.

NOTICE
Do not turn off the power to this instrument while it is initializing the data in its internal memory (that is, while the button indicators are flashing).

Please have a look at the instruction manual again. The 8ve keys are assignable/editable for up or down. You can change the range of the scale this way. I own a WX7 and a WX5. They both work this way.

Please consult your manual again. The velocity and breath pressure are adjustable. The procedures and location of the switches and potentiometers are described in the manual.

Tell her to tune all strings below the pitch and always go up to the pitch, never down because of slack in the tuning keys. The gears will have a slight bit of play in them. If coming down and stopping at the right place, they will loosen and loose tuning when she lets go. Tuning from below and go up to the pitch will correct that. (more noticeable on electric) Also, I would take it to a shop to have the intonation checked and tuned if necessary.

Inspect for damage, especially hairline cracks. Also inspect for contamination or dirt that will change the resonant frequency. AND VERIFY the tuner you are using is accurate. Do not compare to a piano which MAY be out of tune... in fact, pianos are STRETCH tuned, that is the higher notes are SHARPED and the LOW notes are FLATTED deliberately. Comparing your chimes to a piano, the E5 would appear flat. Use a good electronic tuner to verify the pitch, not a piano,

Reread your manual pages 14 and 15. Note page 14 tells you that "When using a monophonic tone generator such as the VL70m, the Normal Hold and Follow Hold functions CANNOT be used." I have both the WX5 and WX7. I also have both the VL70m and the WT11. The VL70m has a lot of better sounds, is editable and has better effects the WT11 allows you to use both follow modes. Any polyphonic midi keyboard with a midi in jack will allow you to use the follow modes. Read the directions on page 9 of your WX5 manual to hook your WX5 to the keyboard. Set your keyboard to receive all midi channels. I think it is Omni On, Poly. Hope this helps.

Likely you have damaged the pitch bending wheel and offset it.

Try to pull it on pitch with the wheel... IF YOU CAN, then the alignment of the detent of the wheel has been disturbed and unit will need servicing... There are a lot of screws to open this and several very tender cables that can be damaged... I would recommend you take it to a shop experienced on this keyboard.
