When I delete from the Clickfree Harddrive I do not get back space on the harddrive. Instead, the deleted information space is now called OTHER. I want to know how to delete things permanently so that I can reuse the space for future backups. I would like to clean/clear the whole drive so it can be used again.

It sounds like you want to wipe/format the drive COMPLETELY. There is a very helpful page at this link: https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/how-can-i-format-a-clickfree-usb-hard-drive-514102/ from C-Net that has a discussion on the topic in various operating systems. Be sure to read the entire page, as some contributors enhance other's solutions. This may help. In case I miss your intent, there is a document on the use of Click-Free drives (PDF) located here: pdfstream.manualsonline.com/4/42f5792a-0734-4e95-bd37-e0474cabc1ee.pdf . Good luck, write back if you solve this or need more help.

Most flash drive comes with its on date support files on it. If those had not been removed then, yes it will show some space used.

SOURCE: Need to install install XP PRO on used cluttered hardrive.

Please follow this excellent guide XP Pro Clean Install to lead you through the process.
Check first to be sure your system meets the requirements for an installation of XP.
Also make sure beforehand that you back up any documents or files you wish to save from the old drive, because you will not have access to them after installation. Make sure you have a CD with Drivers for the hardware installed on your system; you will need these to access the internet once you install the new OS. Also be sure to have downloaded AntiVirus software installation files so you can load this onto the new system before going online.
You could, if you choose, buy a new hard drive and install your existing drive as a slave to the new master on your existing computer. In this way, you will still have access to all your old files and documents, without having to back them up.
Best of luck, and enjoy XP!

If this information solves your problem, or answers your question, please take just a moment to rate this post...thanks!!

SOURCE: My 500GB Lacie harddrive says it full too

Way too little information to solve this problem. Operating system and connection type are good places to start. errors if any during installation, startup, or during connection also would help. format type and OS format type and if it was previously used on a different type of system like mac to pc or linux/unix.

Cant delete files off external harddrive. files disappear but no space is freed up? lacie porche fa

Hello,
this sometimes happens when you delete files partially. Deleting file normally will send it to the Trash (MAC) or Recycle Bin (PC) . The file is not really deleted at that point. Make sure to empty the Trash or Recycle Bin and the space should be freed.
If this does not work, copy all needed files somewhere else, then format the drive.

My D: drive is 99% full how do I free up disk space ?

Music, video and pictures use the most hard drive space. Store them on a disc or on line storage site. After the delete or removing as advised, defrag you hard drive. This should free up space. Get rid of any programs you don't use. As long as you don't delete hidden files you should be fine. Hope this helps. If you are using windows XP go to start, control panel add and remove programs and delete only the programs that you installed and remove only them.

Acer Travelmate 2300 memory all used

Disk space is not RAM.
RAM is a memory where operating system and software keeps their current state.
All disk space used is a message about the harddrive on your laptop.
You will have to buy bigger harddrive and change it (you will have to move or reinstall system) or buy an external USB harddrive and move some data onto it keeping the original system in place.

just plug the old hard drive into your new system insuring that the setting of the jumpers on the old harddrive are set to slave. then when you boot up your system your operating sustem will detect the old harddrive and then you can access if in the my computer folder. In order to keep the the operating system working in the old harddrive do not delete any system files just delete the data you copied in to the harddrive, to be safe do not delete anything in the windows folder in the old harddrive
