Have you tried to shut down your computer and re-start it up again ? (to see if your USB port starts to works again ?)
One thing you should (must) do before you remove / detach a USB device (e.g. flash drive, camera, etc.) from the USB port is to make sure you properly "dismount" (eject/disconnect) the device first (e.g. use its Property menu option) before you physically remove the device (i.e. take it out - remove it from the USB port). If this is not done, you'll get the problems you're experiencing.

Hi i have a Canon MP830 and have replaced all the ink cartridgers and they all light up but my printer wont print, fax, copy. It sounds like it is printing but the pagers come out blank. It won't even send...

Some laptops cannot run some printers or scanners. Make sure your laptop can handle running the printer from a usb port. It might help to have your laptop plugged into AC power. Also, make sure you have the most current printer drivers for your particular OS installed. If your laptop can't run your printer from its usb port, you can probably connect the printer to a desktop usb or a printer port, then print from your laptop through a home network.

Have downloaded a driver for mustek 600cu but still not recognising scanner

Hi,
First install software driver if finish, connect your scanner USB cable to USB ports of CPU(make sure that your USB ports working good, test also using your USB flash drive).then you can see on screen automatic detect your scanner. if not detected try to change your USB scanner data cable. then try again connect to USB ports of CPU.

Just let me know if not yet working.

Usb 1.0 or usb 2,flatbed scanner compatability

Find a USB device, such as a memory-stick, that is "USB 2.0" and connect it to a USB port. If Windows XP pops-up a window ("this device will perform better when connected to a USB 2.0 port"), then you have connected it to a USB 1.1 port.

Yes, you can connect a scanner, if it has a USB connection. Not all laptops have a parallel-port ("old-style" printer) port, but some scanners require a parallel-port.

Cable connectivity with my laptop through a "parallel to usb cable". My laptop has no parallel port but only usb ports.

make sure you follow this step :
1. install driver USB to Paralel port (LPT1) before the cable connected to PC
2. After the driver installed, install the cable - and it supposed to be detected
3. the last think u have to do is install the scanner/printer driver

if it is not work, i guess the problem is on the USB to paralel adapter, or the driver not installed correctly

Cannot detect scanner

There is going to be issues with connecting it in this fashion. The usb adapters are not addressed the same as a real parallel port. This means that the drivers probably do not have a chance at working. The other issue is usb ports on laptops rarely have the power to drive devices larger than a mouse or keyboard. This means that the usb adaptor may not have enough power to function. Try plugging it into a powered usb hub then to the laptop. This may give it enough power to do what you want if the drivers are compatible of course.

Good Luck.

If all else fails goto goodwill and get a usb scanner. I always see stacks of them. Most are the usb type.

Printer is not working

The Pixma MP210 does not support a wireless connection. It has a USB port. Some wireless routers do have USB ports and can thus share the printer. Similarly, there are print server options that can be connected to the USB port. However, these will not work with the scanner functions of the all-in-one. Also you would need to confirm that the print server you choose is compatible with the Pixma MP210.

The fastest way to print right now is to connect the USB cord to the laptop. Wait for the drivers to be installed and then send the file to the printer. Moving the cable will let both computers use the scanner features of the all-in-one. A manual USB A/B switch might allow you to share the printer with fewer chances for a damaged USB cable. However, these usually don't support the scanner. Scanning requires bi-directional communication between the printer and the computer. A bad USB cable can turn an all-in-one into a single function printer with a direct USB connection.

Once the MP210 driver is on both systems and they are connected to the same network, you may be able to set up the desktop as a print server for the laptop. This will depend on the OS on both systems. Something like the Windows Homegroup easily allows printer sharing when enabled for systems with Windows 7 and newer on a private network. Both systems need to join the same homegroup. One system starts the homegroup. Then you have to type in the password on the second computer. This works even with one system connected to the wireless network and the other connected to a wired port on the router.

On Vista and XP, you could enable printer sharing as well in the Network and Sharing center. See https://www.wikihow.com/Share-a-Printer for the steps With Windows OS versions, the scanner functions will only be available on the computer with the direct USB connection.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the OS versions on both the desktop and the laptop if you need more specific advice.

Problem scanning with samsung scx 4521f

Hi,

Sorry to have missed your initial posting...

In any case, to my understanding, this particular printer is likewise capable of USB connection. Perhaps you can try connecting it pure USB and go through the installation again. this might simplify interface and communications between notebook and scanner/printer.

If for some reason you would want to retain Printer/Parallel to Notebook/USB, you need to check your Imaging Devices in the notebook's Device Manager and verify that all drivers are installed for the Samsung SCX-4521F. There should be no yellow or red marks. If there are or if the Samsung SCX-4521F instance is not present, you may need to reinstall using the Add Hardware Option in the Control Panel. You may need to manually select the imaging device/scanner. This holds true if you are using Windows XP.

If you are using Vista, you may need to download all the Vista drivers from the Samsung website. Further, pls be informed that to my knowledge, Vista has certain issues with USB ports. Microsoft has issued a patch/update specifically for this concern. It may be downloaded from here or here.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Problems using usb ports

I assume these are the built in ports you are
having trouble with.Do you have a terminal to
install another usb port via a dongle It may be
that the inner terminals of the usb receptacle
are not making good contact (defective) If you
have a junk board with same setup you
might be able to desolder the port, and
replace yours. I haven't had the occassion to
try this yet, but it might work

Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device

Hello,

I have seen your message stating that "Initialization failed - Unable to acquire TWAIN-compliant device" error is received when trying to connect USB-Parallel type to your Laptop.

Well,  Printer  Panasonic UF4100, recommends to use only " Printer/Scanner Interface as Bi-directional Parallel (IEEE1284) " means you need to use Parallel cable to connect Printer to the Computer/Notebook.  You may receive some communication error messages if you are using a  "PORT REPLICATOR CABLE"( USB TO PARALLEL connector).  The error message that you have received is related to the communication error. Futher, if you use same USB- Parallel cable for long time the Printer Hardware functionality might go bad, since Printer memory gets confused and will not read or detect the Cable , since it is not a cable to use  mentioned by Panasonic Manufacturer.

Let me tell you, general functionality of Printer like Printing would work even if you use USB-Parallel cable. But it is not a case with Scanner and Fax functionality.

Hence, I recommend you to use only Parallel cable to connect your Printer to the Laptops.

I hope that this will resolve the issue for you.

You can email me at [email protected] if you need further assistance.

Bye.
