Our Viking VMOS200 just stopped working. The lights and the countdown timer work, but no fan noise and no turntable spin.

it has nothing to do with the magnetron. first you have to fix step one. then you will know if the magnetron is bad. its one or two of the primary switches on the bottom of the switch tower. usually with these mw if you dont press cancel to stop the mw, and you just push the latch to stop it, those wires heat up and cause the microswitches to burn and loose proper contacts.

put a cup of water in the mw. set it to one minute and as its counting down. push on the latch LIGHTLY, as to not fully open the door and you will hear the magnetron kick on and the turn table start to rotate

We have had this microwave for 7 years. Not had any problems until about six months ago when the volume went way down when you push the buttons and timer, but still heated. Then all of a suddon it does...

Remove the cabinet ... check the door safety interlock switches for proper operation. Most of the time, no heat problems can be traced to the oven thinking the door is open. These switches tell the oven if it is open or closed. If they are faulty ... well ... the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the heat.

I have the same problem with ours! The light will come like it should but the microwave will not start until we hit the upper part of the door handle. Any advice?

Food won't heat up

Hello, I had the same problem, and just fixed mine. Start by turning on your microwave (on mine, the light turned on and timer worked, but the fan nor the plate turned)... push the door upward and see if the microwave turns on... (mine did). so far so good. open the door and take the upper hinge cap off with flat head screwdrive. take the door off and place a small washer on the bottom hinge, put the door back on. your microwave should be good now. essentially, the door just needs to be pushed up a bit so it will work.

Maytag Over-the-range microwave runs but does not heat Model MMV4205BA. Light works, turntable works, timer works. But no heat

Please remove the cover and check the door safety interlock switches. Check with a contunity checker or a volt ohm meter.

What happens is thjis: when the oven is running ane you open the door, the tiny contacts in these little swirtches arc and burn. Eventually, the switches fail. When this happens, the oven doesn't know the door is closed. When The door is open, the oven will not turn on the magnatron. No magnatron, no heat.

It could be the start capacitor, but not likely compared to the switches. Dont try to service the capacitor unless and until you understand the danger.

Slacken off the lower hinge screws and re set the door to the correct height, then tighten them back up.
That should sort that out.

Frigidaire microwave FMV156DSB. Turntable don't turn and no heat. Clock, keypad, light and fan works. The guys above looks like they right about either the door or the switches for the latch. This model does have two switches and a fusible switch. Pushing up a bit on the oven door from the bottom right corner when its closed make mine turn on if you set it to cook. Switches numbered 8(x2) on the schematic has part number 5304440026 $18.05. Fusible switch has part number 5303319559 $30.36. Have'nt changed them because it may be the door hinge is bent since the door latch is made out of plastic. Also looks like a real pain to take apart just to get to the switches. I will try to bend the door hinge to see if it fixes it.
