Think about anything out of the ordinary that may have happened the day (or day before) it quit.

  • Was work done to your system?
  • Did someone mess with your system?
  • Smell anything odd?
  • Especially loud?
  • Did it quit mid-song or did it work yesterday and not today?
Assuming nothing special, here are some diagnostics you can perform. At the very least, they will help tell you what the problem isn't, First....

Eliminate power supply problems.

Use a meter to make sure you have power to your amps +12v terminal. A meter is preferred over a test light to confirm a full +12 volts.

Make sure the ground terminal is grounded. A meter with a continuity test option is best for this.

If either of these fail, trace the wires to find the fault. Large amps like yours normally have dedicated power cables. These cables usually have an additional in line fuse close to the battery. Check it.

If they pass, double check the amp fuse.
Pull the wire (usually blue) from the 'remote' terminal on the amp.
Then try jumping the +12v line to the remote terminal.

If it still doesn't power up, check for signal shorts.
Turn the gains down low.
Pull the input lines and try the +12v to remote jump again.

Next pull the speaker wires.
Your amp should now have only two wires and a jumper attached to it. Try the same jump.

If it still fails, the problem is in the amp itself and (I'm sorry to say) leaning toward the serious.

Hope this helped
Mike.

Crunch 2000.4 car amp, need help tuneing

re-check the speaker connections are correct and use a matching ohm test speaker on the other connections for a sound check. Sounds like hi frequency output into the sub amp. Sub-woofers are a mono signal!!

Is two comp 12's with a 1200 watts nitro amp a

The 1200w rated for the amp is usually an absolute maximum output, the rated output is more likely about a quarter of this figure (300w) I think for the subs you are looking at, you would be better off with a more powerful amp

Hope this helps

How to run the speaker wires to connect to the subwoofer? and does a sub woofer burn if you do not put the right ammount of watts to it for example having an kicker l7 connected to a three houndred watt...

i'm guessing you are having problems with the dual voice coil's so I will link you to the kicker wiring guide...

http://kicker.com/sites/default/files/SoloBaricL72006.pdf that has the wiring options, you will need a pdf reader **** as adobe or foxit..

Under powering your subs won't hurt them but running a 15 inch l7 at 300 watts is not going to let the sub perform at peak, I would go with a 800 to 1000 watt amp.

15 inch l7 watt's are as follow

rms = 1000
peak = 2000

I have one 12inch 1000 watt mtx sub what size amp should i buy

Hello taona80,

If the 1,000 watts is RMS, I'd recommend an amp in the 750-1,000 watt RMS range, perhaps like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or Rockford-Fosgate T1000bd. If the 1,000 watts is peak power, the subs continuous (RMS) power handling is much lower, probably 300-400 watts. In that case, I'd recommend the Alpine MRP-M500 or Rockford-Fosgate T500-1bd.

What size amp should i get for performance teknique sub-woofers

the amp you have will do the job depending on how may ohm you sub is and can you amp stable to handle low ohm's. you should also check your cabling to make sure its for about a 1500w amp so you dont lose any power

What makes a nitro 1200 watt amp go to protect mode

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Subwoofers were said to be bad

overpowered definitely. when you bridge subs your almost doubling the power. if the subs were set for 2000 then the guy he took them too should have known better or at least turned the power down on the amp.

The fuse from the amp to the battery keeps burning

maybe it cannot accomodate too much power running on it...too much current, try another fuse with higher ampere rates

Is Sub Underrated for my Amp?

fuses wont restrict the current flow the amp is way too much for that sub. it may not have damaged that sub yet but it will. you might only need a 100 watts rms too run it.but you will need sowe where about 2000 watt sub too run off that amp
