I have the RX-V995 model av receiver. when I press the power button, the display lights up for a second, then goes off with the clicking noise heard inside the amp. what should be the solution?

According to you symptom, “when I press the power button, the display lights up for a second, then goes off with the clicking noise heard inside the amp.” it is due to overcurrent protection. Enter self diag mode to confirm. DO NOT switch on the amp for three times; otherwise your amp will be locked permanently.

Our hoover 5015d has power going to it, the lights come on and it makes a click noise when you press the start button but nothing. is it maybe the little switch behind the button on the door. you need to...

There is a switch that cuts out the motor if the door is open. Usually this switch fails and will not let the motor start. it is not too hard to replace and costs around $14.00.

Kenmore 80 series - quit working - no noise when I press the start button

Check the door switch in the upper right of the door frame. Ours snapped off so the door wasn't contacting the switch anymore.

Switching on problem Goodmans tvc201t

We had the same television and when it came on after a power cut it just did this clicking thing. We rang up but we were told it would be too expensive to fix. It got chucked.

However, coincidentally, we happened to be given another television of the same model by someone who was moving abroad. The same thing happened when it was unplugged from the mains while on stand-by. Having seen the half-solution above, I tried pressing the on button on the remote but it just kept clicking away. I tried various buttons, including ones on the television itself. Eventually after much button pressing, it made the initial noise like it was about to fire up but then went back into clicking mode. But by keeping on pressing buttons, it seemed to make more and more of an effort to turn on, which eventually it did.

As it happens, the final button pressed was on the remote control, but I think any button will do. So don't give up if your remote doesn't work. Just keep pressing buttons, and it might just gradually build up a head of steam until it turns on. This could take a good few minutes. I've no idea what might have actually happened. Someone posted the same problem elsewhere on the internet and someone suggested it might be something to do with the capacitor.
