I have the via veneto model that has the rubber tube that draws the milk in. It doesn't seem to build enough pressure now to do it. I have been cleaning and descaling it on a regular basis. The expresso works fine but I can't foam the milk. What could it be? also are the other parts available for this model to creat foam besides the tube?

Hi
There is a pin on top of the cappuccinator the will twist to create suction. Turn it slowly when steaming until it starts to draw milk up to foam. Then leave it. If you don't have the pin, thats your problem.

My jura X7 system is rinsing with milk. When pressing the rinse button, the machine is drawing milk to rinse instead of water??

The milk tubes should be submersed into water with a milk cleaning agent. sounds like you've left the milk tubes drawing from the fridge with milk in it.

I have a craftsman air compressor, model 919.167620, that will start running and then after about a minute it starts running slower and slower till it stops. it doesn't seem like it runs long enough...

The nonreturn valve that lets the air into the tank is stuck or faulty and not letting the air through, so pressure is building up in the pipe and cylinder and stopping the motor. If you open the back of the valve and run the motor you will know if that is the problem. Stephen.

I have a Krups Espresso pump XP5240 and as like many people am having problems with the steam wand. The first one disintegrated in the plastic thread area. My new one keeps blowing off when steaming,...

My XP5240 also started blowing the steamer wand off after about 3 months of use, despite fiollowing the Krups cleaning instructions. Here's what I did to fix it.

A: The Problems.
The wand has three holes in the coffee end (center, and on each side). The center hole gets blocked with milk residue. This causes a pressure build up in the wand assembly, and eventually this is enough pressure to overcome the three gripping clips that hold the wand to the nozzle tube. I suspect this was an intentional design for safety. It's unfortunate that it also sprays the user with milk when it lets go.

The second problem is that removing the wand requires that the outer clip retainer ring to be slid down to release the clips. Many users don't realize this and try to pry or twist the wand off. This breaks the clips.

B: The Solution
The wand has to be regularly and throughly cleaned. Just soaking it is not enough. Do it this way:

1. Slide the clip retainer ring down, and then hold the steam tube and gently move the wand straight down. DO NOT try to twist the wand to one side, or you WILL break the clips.

2. Holding the ring, unscrew the coffee nozzle end. The wand separates into three parts: Outer tube, inner steam tube and decorative cylinder.

3. Use a needle or very fine wire (approx 0.4mm) to clear the three holes in the coffee end nozzle.

4. You now need to clear the metal wand tube of milk residue. I found that a 7/64" drill bit was perfect to do this, as it fits snugly in the tube. The amount of gunk removed was surprising.

5. Blow the tube clear from both ends. If it's clean, you will be able to see light through all three holes. If not, go back to step #3.

6. Make sure that there is no milk residue on the steamer tube nozzle where the wand clips on. Milk contains fat, and this is an unwanted lubricant.

After cleaning, my steamer works properly for several days. I also located a 21mm ID O-ring at the local hardware store to hook over the clips. This provides a bit more clip gripping pressure, but will still allow the wand to come off should steam pressure gets excessive.

DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 when trying to make a cappucino it wont **** up the milk any ideas thanks

Had this exact problem a few times on a cleaned well maintained milk jug top with an ESAM5500M. Delonghi 'repaired' it by sending a new milk jug frothing top.

It's caused by milk fat deposits, the frother part on the milk jug may look clean but deep inside it's not. I clean mine with pipe cleaners, detergent and hot water and still it wouldn't froth.

The problem re-occurs for me every 6 months or so. You could buy the milk fat remover solution to clean it. Personally I just boil the whole milk jug frother in detergent and the again in descaling solution, that's fixed this problem twice now, although I think it will eventually corrode the 'o' rings on the frother, still cheaper than buying a new frother part each time though.

If it still doesn't work after that, the only other reason for this problem I found mention of was caused by a broken rubber seal where the milk jug fits to the machine. It's most likely to be milk fat deposits inside the frother though.

Our PrimaDonna coffee machine doesnt appear to be takeing in any milk from the jug to make latte's or cappuciono's, is there any way of sorting this out ?

Most common cause of this problem is a blockage in the milk jug. First thing you should try is soaking the complete jug top in a quality milk line cleaner (available from specialist coffee machine retailers) for at least an hour and then rinse thoroughly. Then try running a fresh cleaning solution through the jug instaed of milk. Good luck and post again if this doesnt work.

Water not pumping through, though steamer works and it makes noise.

You need to get the pump "primed" with water going through it.

If the machine is new or has not been used in a long time, the plastic feed tube(s) in the reservoir will be dry. You have to get the water to slowly creep up these tubes until it hits the pump inside, then the water/steam will come out the head and will keep coming out each time you use it until it dries out again.

I've had to re-prime my Via Veneto several times, and each time it seems like I'm doing it wrong and the machine is broken. But follow these steps and you'll get there.

1. Fill the reservoir with water and put the two tubes in it.
2. Turn on the boiler button (left-most of the two narrow ones)
3. Don't put the portafilter on, just leave the head bare.
4. Turn on the pump and let it run. Watch the water level in the plastic tubes. Understand that at this point, the pump is just pumping air, which it is not designed to do efficiently. As it pumps the air it slowly draws water up the tubes. Really slowly.
5. You can speed this up by putting a cup under the steam tube and opening the steam valve. This is while the brewing pump is still on. You will have hot water squirting out of the steam tube. You may see the water moving more quickly up the tubes.
6. The pump may have to run for several minutes. You'll get impatient and scared something is wrong, but just let it run. You'll see the water creep up the tube and go into the unit. Soon afterward pressurized water will start spraying out of the head.

Now, keep it primed for months by keeping water in the reservoir. If you use it only infrequently, run the pump and at least get some water moving every week or so.

I've tried silly things like holding the tubes upside down, trying to get water forced up into them, but in the end, just let the pump do the work and be patient.

Soggy Pucks & Portafilter retains water Saeco Via Veneto

It sounds like you are short on water due to a blockage somewhere...either in the flowmeter or the group head. You might also have a faulty pump, and you're not getting enough pressure during the shot. If you're not getting crema, then it's most likely pressure related...shots will also have a burnt smell and very bitter taste.
