Magnavox..Model # CD130MW8. No sound when in DVD mode since connecting DirecTV via a switch box with PlayStation 2 hooked up with RC cables. You have picture and everything when you disconnect everything, but no sound in DVD mode, but good sound in all other modes, just not in DVD mode.
in my 51MP392H Magnavox you take the back off there is a small black box hanging downf( Focus/ screen control block? as the previous person calls it) it has 3 color controls and focus knobs on it., the whole thing is the size of a door knob and the knob larger pencil erasers with hard to see labels in stamped plastic.
are you sure its blurry and not the colors all mismatched slightly?
Possible you need to clean the lenses on the inside they may be caked with dust causeing a blur?
I reset the comcast cablebox. I totally unplugged the cablebox for 20 seconds and then plugged it back in. Turned on both the cablebox and the tv and the HDTV channels operated correctly.

The VCR portion is connected to yhe TV via yellow-end cable(video) from "video out" to TVs "video in" and red and white-end cables(audio) from "audio out" to TVs "audio in". The DVD plays via HDMI cable from "HDMI out" to TVs HDMI in. S-video cable can be used if no HDMI terminal is available on TV. External tuner in (cable TV, Satellite) is connected to the video and audio in terminals or better yet if S-video out is available on the tuner box.
Sorry about the delay Barbara, I was looking for your clarification comments on the other question page. I didn't realize that you posted this information here in a brand NEW question box. No problem though, this will work just fine too. I will post the information on both question pages so there is absolutely no confusion.
First of all here are the links to each of the USER'S MANUALS for your particular system components:
To view the Owner's Manuals with Operating Instructions for each device, just use your mouse to click on the links, which are the underlined and highlighted text just above. Each one of them will open a new web browser page for you automatically and allow you to view the information indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.
You did not mention exacly what model of DirecTV receiver you have, so first of all, I will just give you the generic instructions for connecting that device to your TV using an HDMI cable connection.
DIRECTV CONNECTION TO TV
Make sure your TV and DirecTV receiver are turned off before making any cable connections.
Now connect the COAX cable from the satellite antenna to the COAX IN jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Now connect one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT jack on the back of the DirecTV receiver.
Then connect the other end of that HDMI cable to the HDMI INPUT 5 jack on the back of your TV.
See page 10 of your TV's USER MANUAL for a detailed labelled diagram of the rear input connections on your TV.
If you want to test your system at this point, you can. Just plug in the power cords to the DirecTV receiver and your TV, then turn them both on.
In order to see the output from the DirecTV receiver, you will need to select the INPUT 5 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 5 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the DirecTV Receiver on your TV.
That completes the DIRECTV to TV connection portion of the system hook-up procedure.
SONY DVD PLAYER CONNECTION TO TV
Your Sony DVD player should have come with an S-VIDEO cable and set of RCA cables (yellow / red / white ) included.
Here is a link to a picture of an S-Video cable in case you need to see one:
Connect one end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO OUT on the back of your SONY DVD player.
See page 8 of the SONY DVD Player manual.
Then connect the other end of the S-VIDEO cable to the S-VIDEO INPUT 2 terminal on the back of your TV.
Now take colored RCA cables and one end of the red and the white cables into the LINE OUT (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of you SONY DVD Player.
Then take the other ends of those cables and plug the red and white plugs into the INPUT 2 (AUDIO L / R) red and white jacks on the back of your TV.
In order to see the output from the Sony DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 2 input mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
See page 11 of the TV manual, button number 7 on the remote control button layout diagram.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 2 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the Sony DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc inserted.
This completes the SONY DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.
MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER TO TV CONNECTION
I will describe the connection procedure using the basic 3 color (yellow / red / white) cables which were included with the unit at purchase.
COMPONENT VIDEO cables are also a slightly higher quality option but would have to be purchased by you separately.
Take one end of the 3 color RCA cables and insert the colored plugs into the corresponding colored VIDEO OUT and AUDIO (L / R) OUT connections on the back of the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player.
YELLOW cable plugs into the VIDEO OUT connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the AUDIO (L / R) OUT connectors.
See page 7 of the MAGNAVOX manual, METHOD 1.
Now take the other ends of the 3 color RCA cables and plug them into the corresponding colored INPUT 1 connections on the back of your TV.
YELLOW cable plugs into the INPUT 1 - VIDEO IN connector.
RED and WHITE cables plug into the INPUT 1 - AUDIO (L / R) IN connectors.
In order to see the output from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player, you will need to select the INPUT 1 mode using the INPUT button on your TV remote.
Keep pressing the INPUT button repeatedly until you see INPUT 1 on the TV display screen.
At this point you should be getting an input signal from the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD Player on your TV as long as the DVD player is turned on with a disc or tape inserted and playing.
This completes the MAGNAVOX VCR / DVD PLAYER to TV connection portion of your system hook-up procedure.
Recording content on the VCR from an outside source will require additional connections which are described in detail on page 6 of the MAGNAVOX manual.
This completes the most basic hook up of your entire system using the cables which were supplied stock with each piece of equipment. As I stated, other options are available for purchase and the instructions for connecting these types of cables are all in the various OWNER'S MANUALS provided above.
Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.
I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Hi,If I understood correctly you broke antenna out socket of Cable box..ok no problem, your TV and cable box should have other jacs/socket for this connection as well.. Take the A/V output of your cable box into TV possibly with RCA cables..than you can select the channel thru Cable box on TV ..(AV mode needs to be selected on TV )
**
in order to listen and watch your magnavox
DVD 's "2xRCA audio" and "1x RCA Video" cables "OUT" should go to
Tv or Cable box "IN" connections separately ..("IN" goes to "OUT" of other
..pls remember,Always reverse connected ) (audio will come thru
Receiver and TV.)
Since you successfully connected your Receiver to play video on TV (one way only ) ,here is the second reverse action if you wish to listen or RECORD a program on your TV on magnavox **
you need to connect "Audio Output " as can either be : RCA jacks or
"Optic cable output" or "SCART "connector " of your TV or Cable box .( every TV -cable box has
different type of Audio out jacks ) ** to "iRCA nput or "Optic Cable input" of your magnavox (whichever you want ,based on the necessary cables on your hand ) There you go..Tv/Cable box video and sound are both on the magnavox for recording..
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know. Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up for me to continue for Helping out the Community :)
I am unfamiliar with this unit. If you have scart connecters on both, connect av2 on the tv to av in on the recorder. set the recorder to record from av source. You should now record a program, I think the static is the fact that composite is out from the dvd only, not an input, and in on the tv, not an output.
I have this model..was trying to hook it up to a directv hughes receiver. After a day of trying and many curse words I found that using this hookup works . Hook up your satellite connection to you tv as usual...Now plug rca cables(red, yellow white) into the corresponding holes on the BACK of the Directv receiver ..now plug the rca cables into the FRONT of the Magnavox player...you will only use find holes for the white and yellow(that's ok) Now hook up up the dvd player to the tv using the rca connection back of dvd/vcr player..or if your tv only has a coax connection you will need a rf modulator available at walmart etc. You will run the dvd/vcr on L2. The key is the connections to the FRONT of the dvd/vcr player..I hope this helps..:)
The cable box IS an external tuner. You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD. Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables. If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2). If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

It sounds like your cables are connceted ok, but what you neede to do is to be able the switch from one video mode to the other so lets go through the cable and vrc conncetions again just to make sure.
From your cable set top box connect your component video (RGB) video out to your TV (RGB) video in via the (RGB)cables.
From your VCR connect your composite video (yellow) out to your TV composite video in withe the composite video (yellow) cable.
From your VCR (Left & Right audio out)connect your left and right audio connections (White and Red) to the Audio in of the TV (Left and Right).
Whith this setup you should be able to use the TV to switch between the two A/V inputs using the remote control.
