A. Check the batteries.
B. Check to be sure there is nothing pressing against the bottom.
C. If you are using it on soft carpet, put the foot extensions on.
1. The Wii Balance Board does not respond.
• Make sure the power is turned on. The blue Power LED should be lit if the Power Button has been
pressed. (The Power Button faces away from the TV.)
• Make sure the board has been placed correctly (see page 6).
• Make sure the batteries have been inserted correctly and are not been depleted.
• Make sure the game you are playing is compatible with the Wii Balance Board.
• Review the synchronization procedure on pages 7-8 and make sure this has been done correctly.
This procedure must be done for each Wii Balance Board compatible game.
• If, after verifying the steps above, the Wii Balance Board does not work, try the following:
1. Turn off the power of the Wii console with the POWER Button on the front of the console.
2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds, then plug it back in again.
3. Turn on the power of the Wii console.
4. Repeat the steps in this Operations Manual for setting up the board.
If the Wii Balance Board still does not work, follow the information at the bottom of this page.
2. Control of the Wii Balance Board is inconsistent or seems incorrect.
• Review the Instruction booklet for the game you are playing to make sure you are performing the
correct actions for that game.
• Make sure the board has been placed correctly (see page 6).
• Try using the Wii Balance Board foot extensions if you are using the board on carpet (see page 10).
• Make sure there are no people or other objects between you and the Sensor Bar.
• Avoid interference from other devices. If communication seems to be affected by other devices
(wireless LAN, microwave ovens, cordless devices, computers) move to another location if possible,
or turn off the interfering device.
If the Wii Balance Board still does not work, follow the information below.
If the Wii Balance Board still does not work, an operational check procedure is available
in the Options Menu of the game you are playing. See the Instruction booklet included
with the Game Disc for more information. If your Wii Balance Board does not operate
correctly after all of the above steps, visit support.nintendo.com for assistance and
additional troubleshooting and repair options or call 1-800-255-3700.
If you are on semi-shag carpet, try using the little foot extenders. They may not seem like much but they can help.
If you are on moderate to thick carpet, you may need a board to set the Wii Fit Balance Board on.
If you are on a wood floor, you can (but don't have to) remove the little foot extenders.
Another little gremlin can be in those silicone covers. If you have one, I'll bet that's the culprit. As nice as they are to keep the board clean, they can actually attach to the non-moving part of the scale (the bottom) to the moving (surface) part. Be sure that your silicone cover is not interfering with the normal movement of the board.
Finally, be sure that you are always using YOUR setting while exercising or it will not be calibrated correctly. Also be sure that when you start, you are not on the board when it calibrates for the first time after turning it on. If the weight on the board differs by about 5 lbs or more than what it thinks you weigh, it will pitch a little wii fit.
I hope you find this advise helpful. If not, though, please don't label this advise as "inappropriate". A "Thanks for Trying" would be just fine.
