Dishwasher not cleaning - stuff on plates.  Power scrub seems to be the only cycle that works sometimes.  Opti miser not at all.  Detergent dispenser not opening.  One repairman ran some tests - said needs new dispenser, control module & heater according to error codes - said it is shorting out but didn't say what caused it - dishwasher or other.  Other repairman said he would get a new dispenser and a water pump because he doesn't know what could be wrong.  Unit is 3 years old.  Help!  Can you tell me how to run diagnostic tests so I can see for myself.

Help! Can you tell me how to run diagnostic tests so I can see for myself. If one guy can punch in error codes and tell me what is wrong then I should be able to. He did not dismantle anything. I want to add I am not equipped to dismantle dishwasher - that is why I pay a repair person.  I just don't want to be duped and I don't want to call another person because I don't know who to trust.

Some diagnostics....

The combination of LED lights to be found on this example can be found here.
Led 1 Intensive, Led 2 Normal, Led 3 Eco, Led 4 Fast, Led 4 Prewash, Led 6 Delicate
Led lights 3 - Eco Overflow or overfilling
Led lights 4 - Solenoid Valve. This is the valve at the rear of the appliance that allows water into the dishwasher. Inline filter blocked or solenoid sticking.
Led lights 5 - Thermistor. Heat protection circuit for upper and lower heat settings.
Led lights 6 - Heating timeout. Element not heating or not getting to temperature.
Led lights 3 + 4 - Draining Timeout. Drain pump taking to long to drain down.
Led lights 4 + 5 - Filling Timeout. No water. Have you isolated the water or maybe the inline water filter is blocked. Take the hose connection off from the dishwasher end and look in the inlet to the solenoid valve.
Led lights 3 + 5 Recirculating pump not working. Check the filters.
Led lights 4 + 6 Heating Circuit. Program stops mid cycle and waits for the element to heat up

Hope that helps....

How to run self test on bosche dishwasher

Here is an excerpt from "Bosch Dishwasher Troublesoooting".

Running a Test Cycle
Bosch dishwashers have a test cycle which can be run as a troubleshooting measure. The method to run this test cycle is similar across the Bosch dishwasher range so if your dishwasher features seems different from those described below then try experimenting, as the process is fairly straight forward and will be very similar. Bosch dishwasher model numbers are usually found around the top or lip of the door. One of the most common differences between dishwasher models is simply the names of the buttons. For example in the first example below, POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH may be called WASH and ECO depending on your dishwasher model and the country you are in. The other key difference is whether your dishwasher has a display panel (which can display error codes) or not (in which case a program light will illuminate to tell you the fault.
To run the test cycle hold down the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons. Whilst held down press the ON/OFF button. The lights above them should flash. Now you can check the status of each dishwasher program by pressing its button. Now you can run the full test cycle = Press the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons again. The dishwasher will start up and when the cycle has ended one, if you have no display panel on your dishwasher model the indicator lights will illuminate if a malfunction was detected as follows -
CLEAN - A temperature sensor fault. If this is the case then the test cycle will be very short as the dishwasher will terminate the test once it's been detected.
RINSE/DRY - A water sensor/filling fault. If this is the problem then the test cycle will not complete as the dishwasher cannot detect the right level of water, the dishwasher will just keep filling and draining again.
WASH - A heating fault. Check your heating element.
If you do have a display panel on your Bosch dishwasher then after the cycle is complete an error code will be shown if a fault has been detected. The error codes are as follows -
0 - No errors have been detected.
1 - A water sensor/filling fault.
2 - A heating fault.
4 - A water filling fault. This can also appear as F on the display during a normal cycle.
8 - A temperature sensor fault.
When troubleshooting your Bosch dishwasher, running the above test cycle is a good start in diagnosing the problem and should give you an idea of where the problem lies with your Bosch dishwasher and what fixes and repair are in order. Our general troubleshooting page will give you some ideas on other things to check on your dishwasher. Good luck!

Your dishwasher is in flood safe mode. There is water in the pan beneath the wash tub. Remove the lower access panel and dry all of the water out to restore operation, at which time you will need to address the leak.

Bosch dishwasher model SHX46A why does the on/off switch and lights stay on while the dw stopped running?

The dw was not quite running. It does pause between cycles. The power scrub cycle means that you had the machine on the longest of all cycle choices. There's almost always a light and a normal cycle. The pots and pans cycle is a power scrub option. Yes all the lights would be on until they switched to a different part of the cycle. Do you have a DRYING light? That would be the one to look for as far as the dw being finished. :)

Our shu66c05uc Bosch dishwasher does not dispense the detergent.

Most likely the solenoid that operates the lever on the detergent door is faulty. Only solution is to replace the whole dispenser, unfortunately. It is possible that the controller is not activating the dispenser but less likely.

Bosch Dishwasher stuck in "Scrub Cycle"

The Control module on our SHU43 blew this morning and when I took it apart to get the module out, I discovered why two of the Cycle selections no longer worked..... the little plastic lever that pushed the switch behind the fascia button - had broken off. You may have the same issue. It's not a cheap fix though as a new module is gonna cost me $175.
