Each time I attempt to send a FAX it fails the first time, no matter who I'm sending it to. Most of the time it will go on the 2nd or 3rd time, but yesterday I made 6 attempts to send and they all failed. I called the receiver and they had been receiving properly all day no problems on their end.
I do use Vonage but the signal is always clean on the part I can hear when the call is initiating.
I was told when I Switched to Vonage I didn't need the broad band filters any longer, so I removed them. Could my credit card modum be adding interferance? Try replacing the phone cable, and inspecting if there is any device (power adapters, power cable etc.) very near to the phone cable, this devices can cause disturbance that cause fax to fail most of the time. If you are using a broadband filter try also replacing the filter.

I do not think the modem can generate enough field to create interference, in any case don' keep it on top of the cable, try moving phone cables and see if it improves. Also test the system with a broadband filter, even if Vonage does not need one (it is voip), broadband may still be using regular landline signal.

If you sending the fax over the memory, fax can scann doc. while dialing, or in the same time, but if you sending directly (on-hook dial) fax is sending the document while beeing reeded.

344 Error can be caused by a few things. One of the following is occurring:
The sending fax has failed to respond to a fax command from the receiving fax due to poor line quality or fax interruption.
The sender has pressed cancel button while the reception was in progess.
In rare conditions, incompatibility has been encountered by two faxes and causes the sending fax to abandon the fax call.
Solutions:
Fax session was using ECM. Check your fax settings under the fax set-up menu on the printer. Disable the ECM (Error Correction Mode).
Fax at a different time to see if line quality improves.
Try relocating the fax to a differnt phone plug.
Replace the phone cord attached to the fax/printer.
First, check your fax's phone line. Put a regular phone on it and check for dial tone and line noise. If the line is dead or noisy, this will cause a problem.
You can also try dialing your fax number from another phone and see if the fax unit picks up the line and starts initiating communication. (sounds like modem noises)

I added a filter, and re-routed cable and the first fax I sent went the first time, 3 pages without a hitch.
