Fridge threw breaker yesterday. Breaker reset and refrigerator appeared to be operating normally but today freezer food and ice thawed and refrigerator at 44 instead of 37. Reset with digital control but can't tell if it is working or not.

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is not making ice and items inside of the freezer are thawing out. This could be an issue with your control panel or sealed system, is there anything being displaying on the front of your refrigerator? May I also have your model number? You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the right hand wall of the fresh food side. With that information I would be able to assist you further. -Matt

Most newer freezers have self defrosting. But it will not thaw out the food at all. For it to thaw completely in 1 day, the compressor did not come on at all. I would first check the fuse or circuit breaker in your home. Many different issues could cause the same result of the freezer not getting cold at all. Defective thermostat, defective compressor, refrigerant leak or loose wiring at connection points. It could possibly be stuck in the defrost mode too.

If your fridge is not designed with an automatic de-icing function, then there may be an ice dam blocking the cold air from moving from the freezer to the fridge. I had a fridge once that would get blocked with ice even if the rest of the freezer was ice-free.

Unplug your unit (often shutting off the breaker is easier than digging behind the fridge for the plug).

Pull everything out of the freezer and put it in a box. Cover the box completely with blankets to insulate it so your food doesn't thaw and spoil. Prop open the freezer door and let any ice accumulation melt.

Once everything has thawed out, wipe up the water and plug the unit back in. You should be able to tell after 10 minutes or so whether the fridge is getting cooler or not.

Some possibilities could be your refrigerator stuck in defrost mode, the control panel, or sealed system. I would chech the components on the compressor. Take the cover off the compressor power terminals and inspect the relay for damage.The power outage is not a concern but the power surge could definately be the cause. hope this helps.

Your defrost drain line is frozen over.Remove everything from the fridge and turn it off for 24 hours with the doors standing open.
The drain line will thaw and you will return to normal operation.
You could also turn the fridge off, remove the freezer floor panel and back panel. Take a hair dryer and thaw out the drain hole. Takes about 2 hours.
You decide which procedure to use.

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer Freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.

It sounds like cold air from the freezer isn't making it to the fridge compartment. This can be cause by a several things. The damper that lets air into the fresh food side is stuck in "closed" position, the temp sensor (t-stat) isn't working properly, the evaporator fan (in the freezer comp above the coils) isn't working to blow air up to the fresh food section. In some situations, the defrost cycle for the freezer section isn't working and the coils have frozen into a block of ice and air can't flow over them properly so you get not cold air to the fresh food section but the freezer still stays cold due to the block of ice.
