if asus.com drivers arnt working then the only other thing you can try is looking at the additinal updates in windows update sometimes there are driver updates in there.

Choose "Motherboard", "Socket 754", "K8V-MX", and click search. On the next page, put in your operating system.
The next page will have all of the downloads for your motherboard.

Unfortunately you cannot upgrade the processor with a new one, the socket 754 is obsolete, retired 4 years ago. You might find some second hand Athlons that will fit it (fastest is 3700+) on auction sites.
That board uses AGP 8x video interface so the best one for it would be something like
