The LG GSA-H42N internal IDE drive. LG's newest DVD burner incorporates DVD-RAM recording, creating a true DVD Multi drive. Single layer 4.7GB DVD burning is supported at 18X max. Double Layer and Dual Layer Recording speed is 10X max. DVD Rewriteable speeds are 8X max for DVD+RW and 6X max for DVD-RW respectively. DVD-RAM recording is supported at 12X max. Very fast 48X max CD-R burning and 32X max CD-RW.

if u r sure about properly working of software & os ,u must check internal hardwares of it,like lens motor & its lever.even,sometimes by an easy cleaning of the lens,u can solve thisproblem...

Hi, as your LG GSA-H42N CD/DVD had an IDE interface you need a drive with the same type of interface .I had to replace my internal drive after years of use.As it was a Pioneer brand with an IDE interface I replaced it with a Pioneer DVR-A 18 L which cost £17.99.from Amazon.co.uk and that included free postage.

open the drive,then clean the dust from lens(glass part) and try to read....

Just install drivermax software and check for its newer version, it will automatically search and install the recent version of the driver.

well you really don't need drivers for xp+ systems. it should automatically be recognized. you just have to get cd/dvd burning software like Nero.
according to this site that drive won't be recognized by vista with out a firmware update

You can try using VLC Media Player (free)
WinDVD (free trial)
PowerDVD (Free trial)

or download k lite codec pack from free-codecs website

You should then be able to use windows media player 10 or 11 to watch dvd movies

As tratado uninstall el dvd en device manager ?

Para llegar a device manager press la llave con el "windows logo" i la letra "R" ala misma vez i luego en la caja que apareze escriba devmgmt.msc

despues busce el dvd/cd rom i pongale uninstall

restart computer
