Hi, my BO5010 spins like a grinder if it is not held tightly to the workpiece, can it be fixed? Thanks, Ope.

You may be using the wrong size pad, especially if it's an after market pad. Get a OEM pad or see if there is any place on the sander to fine tune the tightness. Should be in the owners manual or get ahold of the manufacturer. It also sounds like it could be getting in a bind.

Unplug the grinder. Remove the guard on the side you want to change. Grasp the wheel with one hand while you turn the nut with a wrench. Remove the nut and arbor washer from the arbor shaft, pull the wheel from the shaft and replace it with a new wheel - DO NOT remove the paper label! Put the arbor washer and nut back on, spin the nut down snug, grasp the new wheel with one hand while you tighten the nut with a wrench. DO NOT overtighten the nut.

It may help to grasp the SECOND wheel (which should still be tight) with one hand while you tighten the nut on the new wheel. It may also help to loosen & tighten & adjust the new wheel several times until it runs as straight as possible before you really tighten it.

After tightening down the nut, dress the wheel with a wheel dresser to get it to run as balanced as possible and give you a smooth round wheel so your workpieces don't bounce against the wheel and so it cuts freely. Repeat as necessary to keep the wheel cutting freely, and to keep the grinding surface flat.

The large spiral gear is pressed tightly on the spindle then held in place by a wave washer and retaining ring. After removing the retaining ring and washer, you have to use a press to push the spindle out of the gear.

I suggest you Google the Internet for these grinders. You can check the specs of the grinders from different manufacturers.

Which ever way your grinder spins when turned on is the same direction the lock nut has to be turned to remove it. This makes sure it's self tightening when in use. More often than not they're right-tight, left-loose.

I think when you fix the front burr then you need to loose the middle screw. Then it will fix easily.
But don't run it right away.gently tighten the screw and tight until you feel some tightness .Then start the grinder and tighten or loose it according to your grinding specification

Hi, I had this same problem. Call Saeco and they will e-mail you detailed instructions on how to clean the grinder (2 page pdf file). The directions were great and it fixed our machine. Ours kept telling us to add beans, and the grinder continued to spin. It wouldn't load the beans into the grinder. once we cleaned it (completely) it worked fine.

That said, I'm staring at my own copy of the the owners manual and I can't really see why you would want to pay for one. The only really useful information is the parts diagram which is online at SearsPartsDirect.com. The rest is generic grinder information (support workpiece, select proper wheel, etc.) and CYA (always wear gloves and eye protection, don't remopve safety guards, don't use damaged wheels, don't stick your finger in the light socket, don't cross the steet in the middle of the block, etc.)
