I had the same problem with my PC and went to http://www.asio4all.com/ where I downloaded and installed the driver and it worked!! I found the site by reading this FAQ (see below) at Blue under Snowball.
(But I still have the same problem with my MAC).

Go to Mac audio settings, select and set the input device and the mixer to the same device (your mic),
Set the Mixer/Mux/Lin, line must be set to the be microphone. Ensure that line volume is up.
Check if direct sound is selected in Mac settings, in some case you need to uncheck it.
Let me know in case that does not fix the problem, I will have a look to see if there is any issue that can be related to the Snownball.
