How do I forward a port on my 2wire970 router.

The sad answer is that you really can't forward a port on 2wire equipment. Since the hardware is provided by the ISP they only give you basic settings (security keys, firewall etc). There are advance features you can hack into (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/04/29/advanced-configuration-page-for-2wire-homeportal-residential-router-gateways-singtel-mio/) but I wouldn't recommend it. If you do the advanced settings and mess anything up they may charge you for the router or cancel your service. The easiest solution is to get a personal router that supports port forwarding and just connect it to the 2wire router you already have or just replace it with the ISP (if it's a wireless router) for a normal box.

My nat type is 3 and restricts my gaming experiance how do i fix this problem

1) Type in "192.168.1.1" into the address bar of your browser. The log in page for your browser appears. 2) Enter your password - by default this is "1234", but you might have changed it. If you have changed it before log in with that new one.
A page should load with a lots of information. On the left side there should be a panel of stuff, what you want is "advanced settings". If advanced settings IS there on the left go to step "a" below. If advanced settings (or in fact anything) IS NOT down the left proceed to step "b" below.
a) Happy days. All you have to do is click the "+" beside advanced settings to expand it, then select UPnP. Then just click ALL of the boxes (there's 3 of them I think). That's it.
b) You are logged into some sort of stupid mode where you can't change anything. All you can do is refresh the page or log out. This is probably because you entered "1234" as the password, but in fact this password has previously been changed by you or someone else. So go back to the log in screen (192.168.1.1 in the address bar) and put in the one you changed it to, if you can remember it. If you do remember it and log in successfully (successfully being that you can see "advanced settings" on the left), go back to step "a" above. If you still can't get to that page it means you don't know your password. So you're going to have to reset your router. Go to step "c".
c) Resetting your router. Turn the router off. Then hold the reset button for 30 seconds and power on the router at the same time. Now I think you'll have to set up your router again like when you got if first, to connect to the internet, so do it. Then log in to 192.168.1.1 again. This time the password "1234" should bring you to the proper screen with advanced settings. If it does go to step "a". If it doesn't go to step "d".
d) You'll have to default reset your router. Turn it off. Turn it on and hold reset for 15 seconds. Some light will flash. Release button and let it reboot. Now log in to 192.168.1.1 again. If it works and you can select "advanced settings" go to step"a". If you STILL can't see advanced settings you're at the end of the line and I don't know what to do. Contact your provider or something.
If you haven't done this already...on your ps3: Open up network >> internet connection. Choose wireless/wired - whichever you want. Choose "Address settings" - "custom", "IP address" - choose manual.Enter these:
IP address - "192.168.1.50" Subnet Mask - "255.255.255.0" Default Router - "192.168.1.1" Primary DNS and Secondary DNS same as default router.
Then enter than. Don't know what MTU is (it'll come up next). You're done.

I have a Belkin wireless G Router and have just purchased a Linksys Wireless-N USB Adaptor WUSB300N. Currently my new desktop fails to recognise the Belkin Router with or without the adaptor. Does the...

Connection and signal strength depends upon the router. Just go through the settings on the wireless router, try changing the wireless channels. And also change the wireless mode on the router to 802.11g.This should be the compatible mode for your wireless adapter. to do this first connect the router with the help of an ethernet cable .Please follow the below steps:
1)Using your Internet browser, you can access the Router’s Web-Based
Advanced User Interface. In your browser, type “192.168.2.1” (you do
not need to type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”). Then
press the “Enter” key.
2)
You will see the Router’s home page in your browser window. The
home page is visible to any user who wants to see it. To make any
changes to the Router’s settings, you have to log in. Clicking the
“Login” button or clicking on any one of the links on the home page
will take you to the login screen. The Router ships with no password
entered. In the login screen, leave the password blank and click the
“Submit” button to log in.
3)
Clicking on the header of the “Wireless” tab will take you to the
“Wireless” header page. From this page, the Router’s wireless radio
can be enabled or disabled (the default setting is enabled). Under the
“Wireless” tab, there are links that allow you to make changes to the
wireless network settings.
4)
Your Router can operate in three different wireless modes:
“g and b”, “g only”, and “b only”.
5)
Change the wireless channel to 9 or 11
Click on save changes once you have done this
This should work,if it doesnt work let us know the exact problem in detail.

REconfiguration of belkin router

Sure, you have two options;
  1. The easiest way to install the router is to run the "Install Wizard Software" that was shipped with your router. You can download the software from the Belkin Support website: http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D7230-4&aid=5096&scid=221
  2. Or using your Internet browser, you can access the Router’s Web-Based Advanced User Interface. In your browser, type “192.168.2.1” (you do not need to type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”). Then press the “Enter” key.

The Router ships with no password configured. In the login screen, leave the password blank and click the “Submit” button to log in.

The router's home page is the first page you will see. The home page shows you a quick view of the Router’s status and settings. All advanced setup pages can be reached from this page.
Good Luck!

HOW TO RENAME MY BELKIN ROUTER

Using the WEB BASED INTERFACE.
Using your Internet browser, you can access the Router’s Web-Based
Advanced User Interface. In your browser, type “192.168.2.1” (do
not type in anything else such as “http://” or “www”) then press the
“Enter” key.
You will see the Router’s home page in your browser window.
Clicking on the header of the “Wireless” tab will take you to the
“Wireless” header page. From this page, the Router’s wireless radio
can be enabled or disabled (the default setting is enabled). Under the
“Wireless” tab, there are links that allow you to make changes to the
wireless network settings.

Changing the Wireless Network Name (SSID)
To identify your wireless network, a name called the SSID (Service
Set Identifier) is used. The default SSID of the Router is “belkin54g”.
You can change this to anything you want to or you can leave it
unchanged. If there are other wireless networks operating in your
area, you will want to make sure that your SSID is unique (does not match that of another wireless network in the area). To change the SSID, type in the SSID that you want to use in the “SSID” field (1) and click “Apply Changes”
(2). The change is immediate. If you make a change to the SSID, your wireless-equipped computers may also need to be reconfigured to connect to your new network name. Refer to the documentation of your wireless network adapter for information on making this change.
