I deep fried my turkey for 1hr but the legs were still not done and the skin was not crispy. The rest of the turkey was cooked and the bones were brittle enough to snap the legs off easily. What went wrong?

How long do i deep fry bone in chicken, and what temp ?

Bone-in chicken requires slightly more time to cook than boneless cuts. The average time to deep fry wingdings is around four minutes. Whole wings take about 10 minutes, and thighs and legs require 12 minutes. Bring chicken to room temperature before cooking to use these time estimates; along with following times for cooking, watch for the color of the chicken's breading to develop a deep brown color. Fry chicken in a high smoking point oil heated to 350 degrees F and remove pieces as they become golden brown and float. Check internal temperature using a kitchen thermometer to ensure doneness; internal temperature should register at 165 F.

How long do i cook a 13 lb. turkey and at what oven temperature

What temperature do you cook a 13 pound turkey at?
After about 3 hours, insert an oven-safe thermometer deep into the thigh without touching the bone. Begin checking the turkey for doneness about 30 minutes before the recommended cook time. Your turkey is done when the temperature with a meat thermometer is 180° F in thigh and 165° F in middle or stuffing.

HOW LONG DO YOU COOK A TURKEY

Hi Kathy.

Happy Holidays. The answer to your question is 'it depends'. On size of turkey, how you cook it (deep frying is faster than roasting, for instance, while smoking is really slow), and how you're judging it to be done. The most effective, and safest way to assist the cooking is to have a meat thermometer that can be inserted into the deep part of the ,er, white meat (the word police tagged me here) to monitor when it gets to a target temperature, usually in the 160-170F range. If possible, it's a very worthwhile investment to get a remote probe thermometer, with a cable that snakes out around the oven door and displays the meat temperature. Opening the door all the time to check temperature lets the heat out and runs the cooking all day.

I'm a big fan of the Alton Brown/Good Eats recipe
Good Eats Roast Turkey Alton Brown Food Network if you have the time ahead, the brining really makes for a moist tasty bird, and the actual cook time is usually between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the bird size. The initial high heat sear makes for great browning and crisp skin.

As a general rule, allow 20-30 minutes after baking for the turkey to rest before carving (cover in foil during this time). It'll cook a bit so as not to burn you while carving, and the juices re-absorb into the meat. (carve right away and a lot of the juice will run down onto the carving surface.

Bon Apetit!

Can i cook a 20 lb turkey in a 16 qt rival roaster oven

This is way too big for this roaster, and the one way to do it safely is to cut up the turkey, placing the two leg quarters on the bottom, skin side up, legs to the center and thighs to the side, After 1/2 hour, you put the breast in, skin side up, on top. Use the cooking table and temp for a whole breast from this site:

How long do you cook and 10 lbs turkey in a oil cooker

To fry a 10 pound turkey, you heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and fry the turkey for 2 1/2 minutes per pound or about 25 minutes.

There are some Safety Precautions, PLEASE READ AND HEED!

NEVER fry a turkey indoors or next to a structure (like your house, garage, etc)

DO NOT over heat the oil...adjust the valves as necessary to keep the oil at 350 degrees

You can inject seasonings into the turkey but before you put it in the oil, make sure the skin is DRY!!! Water on the turkey WILL MAKE the oil splatter and you could very well end up deep-frying your body parts as well as the turkey

When you pour your oil into the pot make sure you DO NOT go over the fill line on the pot...otherwise the oil will splash out when you put the turkey in and, once again, you will end up with deep-fried body parts

When the oil is at 350 and you are ready toput the turkey in, make sure you put it in SLOWLY or you will FRY YOURSELF AND HAVE A HUGE FIRE ON YOUR HANDS

Once the turkey is done cooking, take it out of the pot, put into a pan and wrap it with aluminum foil...this will help keep the bird moist as it cools...YOU MUST LET THE TURKEY REST FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE CARVING IT

I hope this was helpful to you!
