C80 GPS Got in the boat Saturday morning, fishing partner was hour late. While sitting there I moved the cursor to an area on the chart I want to go to. I don't know what I hit or did after that. The GPS went out completely, and the cursor ended up in Virginia? I went through the manual, did the systems resets, but nothing. I have checked all the wiring....but nothing. The fathom meter works, I don't have radar. Any ideas?

    Before I go down to my boat this afternoon and unplug the unit, I have been turning off the battery......wouldn't that do the same thing?

Please remove the power cable form the unit and wait for 30 min then replug it switch on ,,let me if your facing the same problem again...............

Hi Ron, Try searching online using something like this "raymarine c80 start up faults". I did and got what appeared to be a number of useful hits. Try it for yourself.

My boat is pointed in the wrong direction on my Raymarine C80 chartplotter?
I'm not sure where you would locate "reset to factory specifications". Look for it in the GPS menus (may be in the System) and reset, it is no big deal to reset a GPS, it will not hurt anything. I the GPS is set to back Track. To check this turn your boat around and follow the track on the lake chart. If you and your boat are now going in the same direction the GPS was set on Back Track.

My Raymarine C80 CHart plotter won't load.
Check to see if this is a power issue by connecting to shore power and fully charging your batteries overnight with instruments off. While still connected to shore power, with batteries fully charged, turn on C80 navigation system. If the loading screen comes on and does not reset, then try holding down the button immediately to the right of the red power button for at least 3 seconds to see if the system re-boots.

Do you need to mount the GPS receiver so that it is higher than the Radom on a boat? Does it matter if the GPS sits lower than the Radar beem?
GPS antenna has to have a clear view of the sky.

Boat on screen does not point the direction the boat is going e-80 series also chart will not go course up or heading up like the radar does unit is set in relative motion mode
The direction of the boat symbol is depending on the compass course from the autopilot. You will see that your GPS course (COG) and magnetig heading on the autopilot differs. Solution is to calibrate autopilot compass. Will advice you to not use course up, stick to north up or heading up.

C-80 WILL NOT TURN ON
if your C80 is mounted outside the boat maybe water came inside the C80 .
This typ has a lot of problems with their seal.
Water comes to the keypad and the powerswitch dont work anymore
