My samsung washing machine WA40J3000A is not spinning. Everything else works but it does not spin during wash, rinse or spin cycle.

if you can hear the motor running on spin or rinse then the clutch is not working if you cannot hear the motor then the motor is not working.

The is a spin clutch soliniod which gets water on it ,rusts it up over time until it becomes seized.Replace!

My guess is the door switch is a two part switch, and one is controling the spin cycle, the other works cause it does everything else..

I hae a Whirlpool LSR8233EQ1 Top loading washer.

If you can catch it running while in the spin cycle but not spinning ( put a butter knife or screwdriver in the lid switch hole ) and wiggle the timer knob . If it starts spinning during this process , the timer needs replaced . Sometimes though , when a washer does everything BUT spin and you hear the motor running , the transmission is the problem .

Sounds like the clutch is malfunctioning. Not an easy DIY job -- probably need a service call.

there are some springs that help hold the tub even as it spins also make sure that the washer is level check front to back side to side and corner to corner if it is unlevel they will be out of balance in high speed spin

You said, power on , but it won't spin. hear a clicking noise in the motherboard.
Everything seems to work. except it won't spin.
The dryer was only spinning but not heating lately. need assistance

The clicking is a bad relay sound.
This is an electrical problem and it may be a need for a new cpb (Control panel Board) also.
time to get a tech in there to diagnose which problem you have and get you doing laundry again

the problem sound like the timer contacts are stuck try tapping the timer while it is stopped and see if it kicks in to spin let me know if this works

There is an auxiliary switch in the door lock and switch assembly that is activated at the end of the wash cycle for the machine to advance to the spin cycle. This is a safety feature to prevent the door from opening during the spin cycle and the machine will not spin unless the switch is activated. The machine works except advancing to the spin cycle and this signifies that the auxiliary switch cannot be activated and the door lock and switch assembly is faulty. Replaced the door lock and switch assembly (part #131763202) to address the issue. Click on the link below for the complete and detailed procedure.

This problem of no spin can also come from the drain filter located on the bottom of the machine being stopped up. If you unplug the filter the machine will work fine.
