I have Acer Aspire 5580. I am facing problem with the graphic, it is showing lines and color patches. When i am extending the monitor to external display, the external monitor is showing nice graphics. I have also replaced my screen but all in vain. Please suggest some possible solution of the problem. I have Nvidia Ge force 7300 series 256 mb dedicated graphics.

If it shows on an external monitor but not on the laptop screen, either the screen ribbon cable has come loose, the inverter/ccfl has died or the lcd screen has died.

If you boot your laptop to external monitor, then unplug the monitor - try shining a flashlight across the screen to see if you can see any data/screen info - if you can, then the inverter/ccfl has died. If not, either the screen has died or the cable has come loose

you have to go into the graphics card adapter properties program and change the screen res of the affected and you must also enable multi screens in the same program. laptop #1 external monitor #2 do not use extended to other monitor rhen you get less

When you say other monitor I'm assuming you are talking about an external monitor attached to the laptop? If so then you are correct if it shows the same as the monitor that is in the laptop, you have a graphics video card problem.

If the lines appear on the external monitor as well, then your video card on the motherboard of the laptop is failing and you'll need a new motherboard or want to consider a new laptop, depending on the repair cost.

its either the onbaord graphics card or the lcd screen.

using a VGA cable, plug the laptop into a external monitor

you will have to hold the FN key + F6? (key should have a lcd pic on it)

if it does not work then ur onboard gaphics card is faulty.

if you get signal via monitor then its the lcd that needs replacing

Thanks for the git back: #1 I hooked up a second monitor (depressed fn+f5) and was able to view everything fine. No problem in any area. Ran Some security checks (malwarebytes,checked windows updates,Secunia PSI,and a virus scan. #2 I opened up the monitor and checked for possible loose connections. #3 brought up the graphics display and checked that 60 hrz was set and correct. #4 ran a backup of all my data from my other monitor,and I made the assumption that it was a bad monitor and I might save some money if I just bought a new laptop.Would like to here your comments. On the bottom row of keys, you will see one marked Fn, in a different color. Hodl that and look at your top row of keys. Should be one with a laptop screen, and a monitor. The little graphics will be the same color as the Fn key. Tap that once, wait, see if the screen comes to life. Usually that key is set to choose "Just laptop screen, just external monitor, or both", with each tap.

no the video card in laptops is inbuilt . its fixed like graphics chipset in mother board of dektop
