Hope this could be usefull for another owners. I don't know the model of your dishwasher but let's take for example PDT785 model. According to owner's manual http://www.dishwashermanual.com/ge/pdt78... and troubleshooting section on the page 24 the possible reason is 'air gup is clogged' or 'high drain loop or air gap not installed'.

This is not a breakdown, and not a serious problem! I had the same situation! I did not find the user's guide to read what the manufacturer recommends. Therefore, I found on the Internet information about GE dishwasher troubleshooting and self-controlled my dishwasher. More similar problems were not observed! https://dishwasherexpert.org/ge-dishwasher-troubleshooting

The GE Profile Dishwasher does not drain completely. The bottom drain shows no obvious clog and the screens are clear. The overflow drain in the back of the washers the only reason the dishwasher does not...

Uncouple the drain hose connection under the sink and use a wet/dry vacuum to **** out the drain hose and the stub on the sink drain plumbing to clear any possible clogs. There may be a blocked check valve near the pump that might have to be cleaned or replaced. Check the hose itself for any kinks or collapsed section. There might be a damaged drain impeller on the pump. Hope this helps!

GE profile dishwasher (2004) will not drain properly. Is the drain clogged? If so, how do I open and clean it?

check the hose first alot of times the hose canbe clogged . disconnect the hose hit the drain on the machine and normally the clog will be seen. if that doesnt work then its the drain pump thats clogged.

Water is not draining. I can hear a rattle when it

the best way is to try and picking it with some wire, or if it's metal, use some magnet on a string and try to pull out the cloge, if nothing of that sort doesnt work, you will need to pull washer out and disasembel it

GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning - older PDW7880GOOSS

My GE Profile Dishwasher PDW8280N00SS wouldn't clean the dishes. I found what looked like plastic particles along with food particles in the wash arm spray holes. I found that heat had warped the gray flat filter in the bottom allowing food particles to bypass the filter, and I found that the flexible plastic sump inlet was disintegrating internally shedding plastic which clogged the filter to the pump and getting into the pump. This shouldn't happen. The material that the sump inlet is made out of is too soft and porous. I noticed other components in the wash water system made from the same white flexible rubber which is an unacceptable material. I bought replacement parts at a cost of $100 for both and this has solved the problem. What's distressing is that the replacement parts appear to be made of the same inferior plastic. And I have noticed upon closer inspection that additional interior parts appear to be heat damaged (warped). This dishwasher has been used less than 4 years and problems like these in a high end dishwasher are unacceptable.
