Try pushing the reset button on the inside of the battery compartment of the remote unit then push the reset button on the back of the main unit (you'll need a paperclip or tooth pick to push the buttons). If that fails I'd start from scratch by removing the batteries from both the remote unit and the main unit then replace the batteries to the remote unit first and push reset, then replace the batteries to the main unit and if necessary push the reset button on the main unit too. Hope this helps.
I had the same problem, no matter what I did worked except for this...Take out the batteries from the remote and the base unit. Then press the reset button on both AFTER the batteries are out. This should reset it.
This worked for me also on 10/28/2012!

To reset the Sharp SPC502 weather station:
1. Remove batteries, or RESET both units
2. Reset the remote transmitter FIRST
3. Reset the base unit NEXT
4. Set the base unit's channel to match the remote (Tap the UP ARROW KEY)
5. WAIT until the remote temperature shows on base unit <=(Important!)
6. AFTER the temperature shows up in the base unit, set the time zone, etc.
7. Set time by pressing MODE key for several seconds to enter the SET MODE
8. Use UP, DOWN ARROW buttons to shift the numbers or selections
9. Tap the MODE key to advance to the next settable item, then set as needed
10. Continue through items; Flashing items will stop at the end of the items

Very helpfull everything now good.
Presumed the unit was a goner because resetting and removing the batteries wasn't fixing the problem. You tip to WAIT was the difference and all is fine again. Unit isn't that old so I wasn't looking forward to spending money on another. Great tip! Thanks.
