Scrambled picture We bought this TV in appx. 2001. Over the past year when we turn it on the picture is very scrambled, to the point that you can't make out anything. After it warms up for a few minutes the picture clears and it works just fine. I'm curious is the problem is easily fixable or not worth the cost of repair.

I have the same problem with my set, and I called a repair shop and was given an estimate of about seven hundred dollars. Might be worth it to get a new one....

I have the same problem here as well, except that it has been happening so long that now it doesn't get completely clear. The picture was great at one time :-(

Hi I have the mitsubishi WD 62525 and I have replace all the bulgy capacitor, now the tv is working, but after a few minutes the picture start distorsionated to the point that is scramble. I turned off...

You have a multitude of surface mounted capacitors that have to be changed on the DVM module which is part of the Light Engine Assembly. Mitsubishi's are notorious for this problem. Mits charges $300.00 to refurb the Light Engine Assembly , which is not a bad price.

The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!!

- Picture scrambled when set is

The TV has a bad board. It's called the Hyper board. It has been discontinued by Toshiba years ago so it is not an option to replace it. There are some TV repair shops that can rebuild this board by replacing most or all of the capacitors in it. You may want to call your local shop and see if they can do.

Repairman for your TV yet?

Hello,
Actually I found quite a bit of info regarding the problem and confirming that it has to be the caps on the hyperboard as hdtvman was mentionning.
I've bought the caps for less then $3, and will give a try at replacing them probably next weekend. I have nothing to loose as it's getting worse day by day now. If I screw up I can alway order the hyperboard from PTS...
