My nat type on my Playstation 3 is nat type 3 (strict). I would like to know what setting configuration on my WRT54GX router so that the nat type decreases.

Well this becuse of NAT on the router

you can solve the problem by putting your PS3's IP address on DMZ in the router

access your router page (type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of internet explorer)

username would be admin and password would also be admin

go to the DMZ and enter the IP address of the PS3 there after enabling it....restart your PS3....bingo your problem solved

Note:- you can check your PS3 IP address in the network settings and connections option on PS3

Hope it helps

Thanks

PlayStation 3 keep getting nat type 3 when need type 2

Hi
I was having problems with my PS3 as well I did the following

updated firmwire

Also I assign static ip address on my PS3 and forward ports used by PS3 to static IP address of PS3 on routers firewall.

Ports used by PS3:
udp 3478
udp 3479
udp 3658
tcp.domain (port 53)
udp.domain (port 53)
tcp.http (port 80)
tcp.https (port 443)
udp.ssdp (port 1900)
tcp.amandaBackupInitiation (10080)
tcp.Jabber SSL/TLS (port 5223)
tcp.10075
tcp.10078
tcp.10079

If your still getting problems configure the PS3 to be in your DMZ.

DMZ will be under applications and gaming. Just look for that setting in your routers setup page and add your PS3 IP address to it.

Nat type strict on ps3

I have windstream and it is always strict. You may want to go into your modem and make the router a DMZ. Just make sure your firewall stuff has not been changed on the router. Then DMZ your ps3 static ip. If that does not work I have been told i need to call my isp to get them to change it somehow. Or you could supposedly bridge it, but I gave up on it. I just accept the fact that sometimes I cant play with certain people or chat with certain people.

Ok my nat type is strict and i am trying to change to open

You want the NAT open for X-box ?

For X-box you will need to open some ports on the router.

Also you will need to reduce down the MTU on the router to 1365.
That will work.
for this you will need to open the router set up.

My PS3 has no NAT Type!!

there is something known as NAT strict that can happen due to many reasons , NAT or network address translator helps in converting the WAN ip address to LAN side IP address or public to private ipaddress . In a case of NAT strict or no NAT type ur PS3 or the router to which you have connected the PS3 is not able to convert the IP address...
Solution: try logging on to the router manager or PS3 settings and enable the NAT ( it would be in a disabled state or DMZ ( de militarized zone ) state )....
If the nat is already enabled Then try to manually configure NAT by opening the port numbers on the router manager or PS3. Port numbers can of UP or TCP protocol depending upon the games ur tyring to play....
If u donno how u do it then contact sony or the people who gave u the router or ur ISP
