My brother threw the remote at the TV and cracked the screen. I was wondering how expensive it would be to replace the screen. The TV still works fine, and we have no need to buy a new TV anytime soon, so I would really like to just get a new screen. Is this something I would be able to replace myself?

The cost of the screen, and the tools needed to make it work with your current TV would be more expensive than it would be buying another TV. Go find the gamer that caused the damage and get them to buy you a new TV.

Hi, Unfortunately this is a crack internally, the spalsh of colour is the Liquid Crystals running through the cracks, the cracks can be very fine and not visible because of the spread of liquid. this can't be fixed, it would require a new screen which could be very expensive if you can get one.

you could try claiming on household insurance if it covers for things like this.

My fiance threw the remote and hit the left side of the screen . it didnt break the outside of the screen or even leave a mark but about 6 inches from the edge in looks shattered.

The screen is broken and the only fix is to replace it. When the remote hit the edge of the screen it bent a little and cracked a few inches from the edge where the screen was starting to fold a bit. But as the screen is overwhelmingly the single most expensive component in the television it's usually cheaper to replace the entire tv, especially when the labour charges of fitting a new screen are added.

Due to economy of scale, when you buy a flat panel tv you're effectively buying the flat panel at a volume discount and getting the casing, power supply, electronics (in fact all the other bits which turn a bare panel into a tv) for free.

Sorry, but your fiance made an expensive error.

This TV may be totaled as the replacement screen can be as much as the TV itself! Sorry...start searching for a new TV!

Replacement screens are to come by. Check E-bay try and find a TV that wont power on. Also www.RNS-Systems.com Has used screens from time to time

I am sure that the cost of a screen change would be more expensive than replacing the TV set.

The LCD panel will have to be replaced. Contact a Philips service agent for cost.

The cost of a replacement screen will probably outweigh the cost of a replacement TV.

If you have household insurance, it should cover accidental damage.

The protector screen is $247.79 If the screen behind that is damaged, that one is $147.97 If the last screen is damaged, that one is $495.00
I hope he only damaged the 1st clear screen, known at the screen protector

I'm pretty sure it's just the screen protector that is damaged. If the screen behind that is damaged, it is very minimal (just a spot) and would be fine.

Where would I go about ordering a new screen protector? I'm assuming that does not include shipping, and the shipping will be very expensive.

Would it be easy enough to replace myself? Is it just glueing the protector onto the edges of the TV?

Would it be any cheaper to order a generic replacement from a screen protector website and not from Sony?
