If you disengage the motor does the gate slide easily? if not that could be the problem, most gate control boards have a sensor that detects the current drawn by the motor, if the gate hits an obstruction or is jammed the motor draws more current and the sensor stops the gate moving. It could also be a problem with the safety sensor, to check this locate the safety sensor input on the control panel and bridge the 2 contacts if the gate then works the safety sensor is the problem.

I have an Elite SL300UI. Is it normal for exit and safety loop modules to power down when using keypad ?

It is not normal for the exit and safety loop modules to power down when using the keypad on an Elite SL300UI. This may be a sign of a malfunction or issue with the system

Lift gate will not power down to closed when button on gate or remote is pushed. Lights do flash though.

There are switches on both ends of the course of the motor, if one fails it will only work on the side that´s ok. That´s why it opens but do not close.Check it out.

Elite gate won't open

this system runs of of the batteries and the system is constantly charging the batteries but if the batteries go bad it will act up even if the incoming power is good.

power it down unplug the batteries and use your multi-meter to see if you have good batteries.

My Elite Sliding Opener is not closing. It hits the the end of the gate hard and retracts back?

The Limit nuts are out of adjustment. This can be caused by the chain jumping the sprocket, usually when something gets caught in the chain or it has not been adjusted. It can also be caused by a cracked limit nut. The limit switch and nuts are located at the top of the operator (under the cover) and has a lid held on by a single screw. Loosen the screw, and remove the lid.

elite-sliding-opener-not-closing-hits-3i3gptxgjc4ofcs21h1ecra2-1-3.jpg Inside you will see two cogs on a threaded shaft with slots cut into them. These slots are there so the lever will keep the nut from spins and allow it travel down the shaft as the shaft turns. The limit nuts eventually contact the limit switch, stopping motor. Look closely at the sides of the nut to make sure there are no cracks allowing the limit nut to spread open and slip on the threaded shaft. You may have to clean them to see it.

elite-sliding-opener-not-closing-hits-3i3gptxgjc4ofcs21h1ecra2-1-6.jpg If there is a crack, usually found between the brass nut and a slot, you will need to replace the limit nut. Go ahead and do both nuts at the same time as it is a challenging process and you will want to do it only once.
If the nuts are not cracked, simply press the bar holding the nuts in place back with a screwdriver and spin the nut towards the limit switch until the gate stops about one to one and a half inches away from the post. The gate stopping point can vary even more than one and a half inches on slopes so if it starts happening again, give it even more space.

elite-sliding-opener-not-closing-hits-3i3gptxgjc4ofcs21h1ecra2-1-10.jpg Finally, a new limit nut may look different than the old one. The old ones with the brass nut encased in plastic had more cracking issues than the new all plastic nut shown here.

Good luck

Hi,, i have a SL3000UL slide gate opener that stops half way.

well it seems like you have checcked almost everything. there are two things that come to mind that might be your problem, check the backup battery, messure it while on charge with a multi meter, the reading should be between 13.4v and 14.0v. if this is fine then if you have beams or loops installed try replacing them as they might be faulty.

My elite operator will only close part way, seems to only happen cold nights 52 degrees-F works well in the day time no matter the temperature, limit switches checks out ok, I disconnected the loop...

You will have to increase your force (sensitivity) settings on the p.c. board. Without knowing what type of board you have I can only guess. There should be a pod you can rotate with a screwdriver to increase the force. If it has an LCD readout with menus search the menus for force or obstruction, then increase it.

The outgoing gate has a positive stop on it, but

Well it seems that their could be a limit switch problem. also if someone has replaced the limit switch they could have not connected the wires back up correctly. if your wiring and switch are correct than you have a bad circuit board. my opinion is to not even fix it and replace the whole opener with a gto-pto gp sl50 They are the most reliable opener out so far and come with all the features that elite charges extra for like a battery backup for instance.

Gate will not completely close.

Most likely your chain is not going to be your problem. When you pull the cover off of your SL 3000 there will be a little rectangle box on top. There is either one or 2 screws holding the lid down...loosen the screws and take the lid off. Inside there will be a long screw drive with 2 plastic nuts with teeth. At either end of the screw drive you will find a switch that one of the nuts should be resting on. (these are your limit switches that tell the motor when to stop) Run the gate open and closed...when you run it closed see if it is hitting one of the limit switches when it stops. (turn off the power) If so, hold back the plate keeping the nut in place and move the nut further away from the limit switch.(don't move it too far so that you don't slam the gate too hard into the catch post and hurt the post/gate/motor) Turn the power back on and run it again. Repete this untill the gate is stopping where you would like it too. e-mail me with any further questions [email protected]
