Make sure it is not battery or motor, jump the battery + & - to the motor + & -, if it works it will be the control box

30 minute fix for very cheap

ITEMS NEEDED
Get a Potter & Brumfield relay (5 poles)
2-3 feet of wire
4 female wire ends to plug into relay

HOW TO FIX
Take apart razor so you can see the black control box

Unhook throttle plug, this is the one with 4 wires (2 brown & 2 orange on mine)

Wire relay:
85: Ground
30: Red wire from switch to control box, if you wire this straight to battery it will work with switch on or off (killing battery)
87: Red wire to motor
86: Brown wire from throttle plug

Run a wire from 12v (battery) to other brown wire on throttle plug

END RESULT
When the throttle is activated, it closes the loop in the brown wires, triggers the relay, activates the motor

You WILL NOT have the throttle control, it is wide open or off when you activate/de-activate the throttle

This will save you $30 for a new control (brain) box.

Have 2 John Deere Gator ride on toys. One won't run even with good battery... What do I check first (non-mechanic Mommy here)?

it could be the speed controller, They are sometimes near the battery. Do you hear a clicking sound when you try to engage the motor? if you do the solenoid is trying to engage. only a multi meager or electrical tester could tell you if power was getting to the motor but my guess is that it is not. if you know for sure the battery is good and it won't go it probably is the speed controller or a reset switch!!! try looking for a small black button near the on switch or charging jack. when you press it in you might hear a small snap. if you do that will be the problem. if not you may have to replace the speed control, if both are the same you can exchange one form the car that works. all the plugs only fit one way don't force them. take your time it's easy.
Best to luck
hope it's the reset switch

No charge indication on throttle and motor doesn't work - New charged batteries.

Make certain the Batteries are IDENTICAL to the original. Any change of the Voltage, Current, or Amps will damage the motor or starter. Check all connections to see if they are properly set and Plus is to Plus and Minus to Minus. Check the Ground wires. Make certain all wires are insulated well, no cuts, peeling, cracks, or holes. Technically speaking, if you do not have test equipment like a VOM (Meter) you cannot check continuity (for shorts) and leaks.

2 flashes There is a bad connection to the motor.
Check all connections between the motor and the controller.
3 flashes The motor has a short circuit to a battery connection.
4 flashes Freewheel is engaged.
5 flashes Not used.
6 flashes The controller is being inhibited from driving; this may be because the battery charger is connected.
7 flashes A throttle fault is indicated. Make sure that the throttle is in the rest position before switching on the scooter
8 flashes A controller fault is indicated. Make sure the controller connections are secure.
9 flashes The parking brakes have a bad connection. Check the parking brake and motor connections. Make sure the controller connections are secure.

Quad is charged but will not move- hear a clicking noise from the controller on the frame- checked the fuse-ok- battery has 24 volts from it- seems to be the controller- do not see it on the parts list-...

I have a dirt quad exhibiting the exact same symptoms previously described. I ordered a new controller and replaced it. The quad is making the exact same noise and did not resolve the problem. I tested the motor wire with my volt meter which registered approx 10-11 volts before the controller made a clicking noise and immediately the voltage drops to 0. I'm curious as to whether it may be the throttle?? I'm frustrated at this point. I tested the battery and it reads 24.6 V on the meter. Any ideas??

Not responing to the trottle.

The Main controllers always seem to be the problem on these quads. If you have a voltmeter you must check the batteries for a complete charge. You should read 24volt or around 24.60 vdc. If you have a full charge usaully 12-16 hrs by the charger supplied with the quad. Than check the output to the motor by disconnecting the motor wire and put your leads in the sockets and verify if you are getting voltage to the motor. Make sure you re-connected the battery before testing the controller output. You should see a varying voltage from 0-24 vdc when the throttle is turned. If you do not see anything at the motor lead and your batteries show charge. the controller is faulty or you have a bad connection. Un-plug and plug and connectors.

Seems to die when fully charged. one push with foot and it lurches forward and runs a while then won't go again after stop until manual push and then lurches forward again. is something not connected...

hi ,

so first take off the seat, please be carefull how you do this as they can be heavy,

Now remove the cover , again carefull as there may be some wires connected for the lights so discconect these,

Now look for the break located on the side of the motor ( can be a gold colour), check the wires here, make sure they are a good connection, now check the battery teminals , are they loose check the wiring here, now does the brake click when you move the throttle lever, it may be a really faint click, no click then check the connections leading to the controller, normally a black or blue box.

IT could also be the fact that the batteries are faulty and appear fully charged, again check the charger making sure it is really charging , last of all it could be in fact a controller fault or brake fault

Please rate my help.
