My aunt went to turn on her tv and she pressed a random button on a sony remote that the comcast set-up employees told her not to use. the TV says no pc signal on it. she doesnt own a computer. what does she need to do?

Follow these steps to program the remote control.

1. Turn on the component to be programmed.
2. Press the SET button.
3. On the remote control, press the appropriate component button.
4. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.

NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, repeat the procedure, entering one code at a time until you find one that works.


5. Press the ENT button.
6. Point the remote control at the component.
7. Press the POWER button to verify operation.

Comcast offers several remote controls. The type of remote you get depends on the device you're using. Some Comcast remote controls are multi-device or universal remotes, while others only control the set top box and TV.

Comcast uses at least 11 different remote controls. I referred to the manuals listed on their remote control page for instructions on programming the three Comcast-branded remote units:

Comcast Universal Remote (Red OK/Select button)
Sylvania LCD TV codes: 20000, 20035, 20043, 20081, 20593, 21593, 21781
Procedure:

1. Turn on the TV.
   
2. Press the TV button once.
3. Press and hold the Setup button until the TV button blinks twice, then release Setup.
4. Enter a five-digit code from the list. If this is done correctly, the TV button will blink twice. If you enter an invalid code, the TV button will produce one long flash and the remote control will exit the program mode.
5. Aim the remote control at the TV and press the Power button. If you have the correct code, the TV will turn off. If not, repeat steps 2-6 with a different code.

If none of the codes work, you can try the code search procedure:

1. Turn on the TV.
2. Press and hold TV. Press and hold Setup until the TV button light blinks twice, then release Setup.
3. Press 9-9-1. The TV light will blink twice.
4. Press and release the digit 1. The TV key will blink twice. Press the Power key.
   
5. Aim the remote control at the TV. Press CH+ until the TV turns off. You may have to press numerous times until the remote control finds the right code in its library. Stop when the TV turns off.
   
6. When the TV turns off, press Setup once to lock in the code set. The TV light will blink twice.
   

Comcast Universal Remote (Grey OK/Select button)
Sylvania LCD TV codes: 0000, 0035, 0043, 0081, 1781
Procedure:

1. Turn on the TV.
   
2. Press the TV button once.
3. Press and hold the Setup button until the TV button blinks twice, then release Setup.
4. Enter a four-digit code from the list. If this is done correctly, the TV button will blink twice. If you enter an invalid code, the TV button will produce one long flash and the remote control will exit the program mode.
5. Aim the remote control at the TV and press the Power button. If you have the correct code, the TV will turn off. If not, repeat steps 2-6 with a different code.

If none of the codes work, you can try the code search procedure:

The real problem with the Comcast remote is that there is no other brand, it's not like a Sony remote that's relabeled or anything. Fortunately, Google helps again, and it turns out Comcast has a page online about programming the Comcast remote control.
Comcast 3-in-1 remote control To program the remote to work with your Sony TV, you need to take the following steps:

1. Find the code or codes for your TV from Comcast's list [PDF]
2. Turn your TV on
3. On the remote, press and release the TV key on the very top of the remote.
4. Press and hold the Setup key, until the "TV" key flashes twice, then release the "Setup" key.
5. Using the number pad, enter in the first 4-digit code found next to your television brand on the chart. If you do this correctly the "TV" key will flash twice. Now it's programmed!
6. Now point the remote at your TV and press the Power key. If the TV turns off, you're golden. If not, try again with the next code on the list.

pls. use remot menu key and open main menu use DW key and select system menu see the PIP option is "ON" set option is"OFF" .
See the PIP screen is clear.

there are a couple of ways to go about it... you can either do a code search with the remote by pressing the tv button then hold down the setup button until the tv button blinks twice. Then press 991 the tv light will blink again then press 1 and then power. then you would press the channel up button until the tv turns off. Then press set up and that will lock in the code. If you pass the code and the tv will not power back on through the remote repeat the same process but press the oppisite channel direction. The other option is search google for your tv code.

For Daewoo TV Model DTQ-27U4SC, try this for Comcast Universal Remote (one with the red select button):
1. Press TV button
2. Press Setup button until TV button blinks twice
3. Enter 10451
4. Press Power button (TV should turn off and is set)

comcast sucks and its tech support are a bunch of idiots. the book that comes with the remote is wrong (and for some reason no one in tech support knows this). the remote requires 5 digit codes and all the codes in the book are 4. typing the number 1 in front of any of the codes in the book, for any device and manufacturer, should fix this problem.

I pressed "Demo" on the front of my TV and it worked, I have an old Sony KP-53XBR35 VIDEOSCOPE XBR - no original remote and the Universal remote has PIP button but would not shut it off.
Finally it's off!!!!
