Onkyo UP-A1 dock not playing video, only audio, from fourth generation iPod Touch. Manual says fourth gen Touch is not supported, but if audio plays, can I get video to play, too? Dock is connected to the Universal Port in back of my Onkyo TX-SR308 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver

Very unlikely. Probably different codes and DRM are used in newer generations

SOURCE: our sound dock does not charge our ipod touch 2nd

The original SoundDock will not charge the iPod touch 2nd gen, or the iPhone 3G, or the new nano either. This is because Apple changed the way their new iPod products charge. (via USB only now)
There is 1 solution- Call Bose tech support. They can replace the 30 pin metal connector for a new one that will charge this. If this is not under warranty, it will cost $99, but it's worth it. New 1 year warranty, and compatibility with all iPods (except much older- non-clickwheel iPods)

SOURCE: UP-A1 dock is connected to HT-s5300 home theater.

I had this exact problem and solved it by updating my IPOD 3 s/w to version 4.2.1. Date now is 2/19/11. This solution also worked on my spouse's IPhone 4.

CAN AN IPHONE 6 PLAY THROUGH MY ONKYO HT-S5100 AUDIO SYSTEM THAT HAS A DEDICATED IPOD DOCK

The included i-Pod dock is the DS-A1 and it is not compatible with any iPhone. It's compatible with the third (select versions) through fifth generation iPods. It can also work with the IPod nano (first and second generation), iPod mini and iPod Photo. On the Crutchfield product page, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GQfUerwopyn/p_580DSA1/Onkyo-DS-A1.html, look at the Details tab for a complete list of compatible devices.

You can find this list also in the HT-S5100 manual (page 65) and the DS-A1 manual (page 6). The direct links to both of these manuals are http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/HT-S5100_En_A.pdf and http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/DSA1.pdf .

    Cannot play external speakers

Try firmly pressing the iPod into the dock connector. If it works, good. If it doesn't, then your iPod may not have support for the speakers.

New ipod, old ihome. "device not supported" Any way around?

I'm sorry but no. the ihome is only for the 1st generation, so if you want to use it with your new ipod, you need to buy another one that supports second generation. this is a bummer, but its how they make their money.

Inmotion speeker dock wont charge new ipod touch

This is because you are using different generations.

If the dock was only meant for 1st generation, then itwill only charge 1st generation. It's how they make their money.
