Hotpoint hss25gfph side by side makes ice but won't dispense water or ice at all. When I try to get water from the door the light dims and brightens and I can hear a motor working when the light dims. After I stop trying to get water or ice the compressor kicks on. I've replaced the filter and I still have the same problem.

Sound like maybe a dispenser board short... you could try taking of the top hidge cap on the freezer side unplug the power to the board there for 30 minustes or so plug back in and see if it can reset to default and try that before u have to change board

sounds like the board in the dispenser is bad and needs replacing now it could be a bad connection at the board
