I had to call Sanyo on this same problem, and I just wanted to help you out on this. When you turn on the the TV and it asks for home or store, chose home then do the channel scan. After the channel scan completes, switch to your tv source, hdmi1, then turn off the tv and back on and it should just go straight back to hdmi1. Let me Know if this works!

Dp42410 sanyo flat screen tv is not powering on

Unplug your TV and run a jumper wire between prongs. Use the ohms setting on a multimeter to verify continuity. If the cord is good it's probably your power supply.

How do I get to the service menu ? Sanyo Model DP42410

Press the volume + and channel - buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds. It must make it into service mode. But, what are you intended to do after entering this mode? There will be a special screen display, that will not resemble to normal user menu. Any data value set here should be changed very carefully. Improper data setting to this mode, might even make TV iresponsive to any external signals, means, the TV has gone for ever. If you do not know anything about this mode, and adjustments, never enter into it. Let it do by any experienced service technician. Why does our TV go through the channell setup everytime we turn it on?

Hi Mary -

The first thing you should do is consult the set up procedures on Page 8 / Section 4 of the manual. This will assure that you have completed and exited this important section properly.

If the TV should lose power (power outage, blown fuse or circuit breaker, cord removed from the outlet, etc.) the TV will likely need to have the setup performed when powered again for the first time. Likewise, a TV that is plugged into an outlet controlled by a switch, will lose power when the switch position is changed. Since switched and un-switched wall outlets look the same, you will need to unplug the TV and plug in a table lamp or similar and operate switches to see if it goes out. You will need to try both the upper and lower outlets as they can be operated independently of each other. If you find that the outlet is switched, you will either have to stop using the switch or find another un-switched outlet to power the TV.

I didn't see it mentioned in the manual, but some TVs have a dedicated power and a dedicated on / off button. If the power button is set to off, the TV will shut off and the remote will not be able to turn the TV back on until the power button is turned back on. The on / off button on the TV allows the TV to be turned on and off with the remote - or the on / off button on the TV. Again, this will only work if the dedicated power button is on. If the power button is set to off, it may be causing the TV to lose the set up information - requiring that it be done again. Make sure that you are using the remote to turn the TV on and off - or the correct button on the TV if you do not have a remote.

If all fails, you might want to contact Sanyo directly. According to the manual, they can be reached at 800-877-5032. I hope this helps & good luck!

How to remove "in retail store mode with settings" message

Question What should I do if my TV is stuck in Retail mode? Answer Your TV may have been set to Retail Store mode, which is mainly used on the shop floor.
For home use, we recommend that you set the TV to HOME mode, which will allow you to change the settings.
To change to HOME mode follow the steps below.
  1. Press the 'MENU' button on the remote control to access the main menu.
  2. Move the cursor down to select INSTALLATION and move the cursor right.
  3. Move the cursor down to select PREFERENCES and move the cursor right.
  4. Select LOCATION and move the cursor right.
  5. Move the cursor up/down to select HOME and press the 'OK' button for confirmation.
  6. Press the 'MENU' button to exit the menu.
