My acer aspire 1670 cannot be turned on immediately after it is shut down. It takes about 30 minutes before it can be turned on again.

Sounds like a problem with your Windows installation and you should re-install or reset to factory defaults after backing up your data.

is it a BIOS password that you have forgotten if so go to this website http://www.biosremoval.com/acer_aspire_1670_bios_password.html it will tell you a step to step on how to clear the password so you can get on without using a password.

Try taking out the battery and just plug in the ac adapter and see if it powers on that way. If it does use it that way for about 30 minutes then shut down. Put the battery back in, and keep it plugged in and wait about 30 minutes before you turn it on. This should refresh the battery enough to start charging.

First thing I'd check is for a BIOS update for your computer under the Acer support pages (acer.com). In some cases, thermal control updates are included in newer version of the BIOS, if it is a manufacturing problem.
Goto http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php and download Hardware Monitor, start the computer and immediately run the hardware monitor app to check how high the temperature on the CPU gets before it shuts down.
Continuing use under this condition may damage your Windows installation because of the sudden shutdown.

Its overheating, clean the fan out.

Also, make sure your bios is up to date and that your power settings are not set to shut down after a certain amount of time.

you have set ur computer to sleep or hibernate after 30 minutes of inactivity. you can customize this in you power setting.

Control Panel-> Power Options

You didn't say what you have tried, but if you go into the control panel, select > Power Options, ithen n the left side panel > "Choose when to turn off the dispaly." Adjust the setting according to using the battery or plugged in. You can also pick "Change when the computer sleeps" and make adjusments there.

Another thing you can be aware of is the life of the battery. If it is low, it will shut down also.

do you have the power saving settings to switch laptop off after a certain lenghth of time?is the laptop overheating?are you using it on a soft surface eg deep pile carpet?

have you checked the power coming fine. If you were working on battery mode it cud be coz of battery issue...

remove the battery & switch on the laptop in power mode.

This could be a heat issue. Make sure that nothing ( eg dust) is blocking the air vents.
