Outlook its a broadband connection and what use would it be to have outlook without a firwall. bear in mind that it used to work before without any hiccups, only since the lightning did this problem surface and i cant seem to find anyone that understands it and can actually correct it or show exactly where or how it started. just about everyone blames the sp but it cant be as the mail is bounced back the millisecond it is sent which clearly shows that it could not even have reached them. there have been mailed bounced back after about 20 or 30 seconds which is definately the sp and i acceppt those as there has always been a reason, such as wrong address etc.

Usually when you get an authentication error message it is because the SMTP server or your outgoing e-mail server is looking for a user name and password. If one isn't supplied, it will continue to bouce back.

The best thing to do is to contact your e-mail provider and find out if something is going wrong on their end and ask them if you do need SMTP authentication. If you do what is the user name and password.

Good luck on that.

How to connect broadband for live

Older systems are incapable of any online interaction without straight Ethernet hookup from the back of the system to the dsl box. Other option is, wireless adapter card. Keep in mind you need a xbox live card to access anything. Need all these things for it to work successfully.

Internet hookup

This is not the manufacturer's site, but i will try to help.
Is it your own network?
You need to make sure that the network is not protected, or you'll need the password.
Go to Start>Control Panel on your computer
Then go to Network Connections
There should be an icon for your wireless connection.
Right-click -> select Properties
In the selectbox select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'
Click Properties
Check if 'Obtain an IP-address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS-server' are selected
If they were not, Press <Ok> two times and try to connect to the wireless network again.

Can you also tell what IP-address you get?
Find it by going to Start > Run
Type 'cmd' without the quotation marks and press <Ok>
you get a black command box
type 'ipconfig', again without the quotation marks and press <Enter>
Please tell me the IP-address it tells you...

I have a laptop, with broadband. I can't send e-mails can u please me Rose

Hi rosemary1027,

Chances are this is a configuration issue. If you've got a working connection to the Internet, then email will work as well.

First things first. What program are you using to try to send email? Outlook? Outlook Express? Windows Mail? Or are you going out on the web using a browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)? If you can go into more detail, including the domain name for your email address (i.e. aol.com, msn.com, hotmail.com) then I can help you.

Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007

When sending emails, while on the move (i.e using different wireless or broadband connections), if you do not click authentication required for the outgoing server and enter the username and password, or click use the same as incoming server the emails will not successfully deliver. It all depends on which email provider you are using.
