Error codes

Samsung Washer Fault Codes
4E WATER SUPPLY ERROR Water Supply Error occurs when water level frequency does not show changes more than 100Hz or water is not supplied up to the preset water level after 10 Minutes or more at the time of initial water supply. The error status can be cleared by turning the POWER switch OFF and back ON.
5E WATER DRAIN ERROR 5E is displayed if the water level frequency detected is 25 KHz or less in the initial phase of the UNB -detecting cycle. The Water Drainerror can be cleared by turning POWER SW OFF and back ON.
oE OVER-FLOW ERROR Over-Flow error occurs when the water level is too high. It can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF. Water is drained prior to POWER switch OFF. The tub is drained for 2 minutes if a frequency of more than 25 KHz is detected.
UE UNBALANCE ERROR Laundry load is unbalanced, manually loosen any tangled laundry.

If only one item of clothing needs washing, such as a bathrobe or jeans, the final spin result might be unsatisfactory and an UE error message will be shown in the display. Unbalance error is cleared by POWER switch OFF and back ON.
HE WATER HEATER ERROR HE, HE1 is displayed if the water temperature rises by 7 C or more in 1 Min or by 2 C or less 20 Min after heating process has started. The error can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF.
1 E WATER PRESSURE SWITCH ERROR * Generated Frequency Signal of WATER LEVEL (WIL) SIW (KHz)

Normal Level = Abnormal W/L Frequency
Low Level = 30.00 Khz High Level = 15.00 Khz

If the same signal is detected for more than 5 seconds, it is aPRESSURE SWITCH Error. When this error occurs the drain pump will operate for 3 min. and the display will show 1 E indicating a pressure switch error.
cE ABNORMAL WATER TEMPERATURE ERROR e.g. If the water temperature is 50 C or more, during a Delicate or Wool cycle.

At the time of initial water supply, if the water temperature is not appropriate, the display will show cE. This error can be cleared by POWER SWITCH OFF.
11 E WATER LEAKAGE ERROR Water Leakage error occurs when the water drains naturally, (by leakage) after the washing program starts.
tE THERMISTOR ERROR This error occurs when the Thermistor circuit is abnormal or a voltage of O.2v or below or, 4.5v and over is detected. This error can be cleared by POWER switch OFF.
3E MOTOR RESTRICTION ERROR Hall Sensor is sensed every 5OOms. 1 second after motor starts to work.

If data of hall sensor is less than 2 (2RPM), the Washing motor will stop at once.

During Washing and Rinsing when a motor restriction is sensed, the motor stops and then proceeds to the next water -flow action. If the motor stops working and this happens in one direction ten times, "3E" Error is displayed.

During dehydrating. when a motor restriction is sensed. the motor stops working and then returns to the initial stage of the dehydration unbalance sensing cycle. After ten times, "3E" Error isdisplayed, When the motor Is told to stop because of an operating function. no error is shown.

Power 81W OFF can clear the motor restriction error.
8E OVER CURRENT ERROR IPM fault signal (this is caused by the overload of the MICOM INTO during motor action).

IPM: Integrated power module. The IPM controls the motor.

If the fault (low signal) happens to be sensed even once during the washing/rinsing stage, the motor stops immediately. However, during the dehydrating stage the signal is to be sensed, when the number of signals reads more than 6 per 500ms during the Washing or Rinsing cycle action.

If the motor stops working, in one direction ten times, "8E" Error is displayed.

During dehydrating, when the overload is sensed, the motor stops working at once and then feeds back to the initial stage of the dehydration unbalance sensing. When the feed back has occcurred twice, Error "8E" is displayed during the dehydrating unbalance sensing, No error happens by overload sensing. When it happens at more than 800rpm, the process is stopped compulsorily. Power Switch OFF can clear the overload error.

Whirlpool Calypso Washing Machine Error Code Explanations And Repair

Failure - Code Condition - Check/Repair

PF - Power Failure - PF flashes if the washer loses power during a running cycle. The washer does not flash PF when it is first plugged in.

Press START to continue the cycle from the moment that power was lost -OR- Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display and completely cancel the cycle.

FL - Flood Condition - FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed.

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

ER - Processor Reset Error - This error code is displayed if the control failed to save cycle information during a power failure. This does not generate an error code beep.

LF - Long Fill - If the water fill time exceeds ten minutes, the water valves are turned off and LF is flashed.

CE - Communications Error - If there is any breakdown in communication between the machine controller and the motor controller, CE flashes and the unit beeps once.

Some common causes of CE errors include:
  • Conformal coating on serial communications pins between the machine controller and motor controller. After disconnecting power to the unit, try scraping this coating off the pins.
  • Check the resistance values between the serial communications pins with the connectors in place. Make sure the harness does not have a bad connection.
  • Check the quick disconnect at the motor terminal. The drive motor must be hooked up properly or a CE error will occur.
  • Drive motor thermal protector has opened.
  • Motor controller is not powered or fuse has opened. Replace motor controller.

LD - Long Drain - LD flashes if it takes longer than 5 minutes to pump out water to a point where the operating pressure switch resets.

CA or CL - Average current limit or Instantaneous current limit - If a status signal comes back from the motor controller that a current limit has been breached, the unit will return to standby mode and display either CA for average current limit trip or CL for instantaneous current limit trip.

  • Average current trip occurs if there is a 2 second average of current draw greater than 5.55 amps at the motor windings.
  • Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps instantly at the motor windings. This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector, or motor controller. Over-loading the unit may cause this problem.

OB - Off Balance - If the motor controller detects an unrecoverable off-balance condition, the machine controller will shut down and display an OB for Off Balance.

The lid switch must be opened at least once before restarting the cycle, if this condition occurs. Opening the lid will allow the customer to view and redistribute the load.

SR - Stuck Relay - SR signifies a failure of the relay in the closed position. With this failure, power to the motor controller cannot be turned off by the machine controller.

The machine control board may have a bad relay and may need to be replaced. Check pins 1 and 5 of P16 of the machine controller and pins 1 and 2 of P1 of the motor controller. This should have AC line voltage when the motor controller is powered.

LS - Lid Switch Error - The control should flash this error code if it cannot detect the lid switch opening and closing properly. This error code may also be used if there is a disagreement between the motor and machine controllers on the stat if the lid switch. The control should not allow the unit to run in this condition.

This code will also appear if the user presses the START key while the lid is open.

Open the lid or press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

Maytag Neptune MDE7500AYW - Won't start - Message says "A power failure..

I had the same problem. It turned out a power transformer in the neighborhood had gone bad. I found it by checking power at the receptacles in the house and we weren't getting proper voltage throughout the house. We had enough power in the house to power lights, the TV, coffee maker etc. but not enough for the dryer. I called the power company and they came out to do a check. At first they said there was a wiring problem with the house until all the neighbors started coming over after seeing their vehicle and saying they were having problems. So maybe you aren't getting proper power to the unit.

Good luck. Hope this fixes your problem.
