This is the main processing ic (CPU) for the keyboard and hence its not easy unless the company indicates, and unless you are a yamaha dealer this information cannot be rendered to anybody according to their policies.

The individual keys on my Yamaha PSR-85 are out of tune with each other. I did a factory reset which helped partially get things together, but individual keys are still not right.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your Yamaha PSR-85 keyboard where the individual keys are out of tune with each other. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the settings: Make sure that the keyboard is set to the correct tuning and that any pitch bend or transpose settings are set to the correct values.
  2. Check for damage: Inspect the keyboard for any visible damage or debris that may be causing the keys to be out of tune.
  3. Check for software updates: It's possible that there may be a software update available for the keyboard that could fix any issues you are experiencing. Check the manufacturer's website to see if there are any updates available.
  4. Calibrate the keyboard: Some keyboards have a calibration feature that can be used to fine-tune the tuning of the keys. Check the manual for your keyboard to see if it has this feature and how to use it.

The remote control doesn't work. Obviously I have change the batteries and checked the mode setting. What to do? Is there a circuit board I can replace? Thanks, Gary [email protected]

Surely there is a circuit board inside every remote control. Usually they are carbon tracked, which cannot be soldered. There is an Ic and an oscilltor crystal too. If the oscilltor crystal [May be of value between 450 to 600Khz], does not work, the there will be no infrared signal-out from the remote control. The Ic used may be ordinary type or suface mount type. If it is an ordinary type you can chage it by hand soldering. If it is a surface mount type it is impossible or very difficult to replace it. Check the infrared light emitting diode fitted at the front of the remote control also. Check its battery contacts. There may be rust of dirt, preventing the proper power supply into the remote control handset.

PSR-2100 need to find replacement circuit board.

I don't have a parts source for these other than Yamaha. Call them up to get the part number for the board. The sound is usually sent through the headphone jack which acts as a switch when you use headphones. Replacing that board should resolve your problem. If the board is no longer available, it is possible to repair the existing one, but this is a specialty task and not one I would recommend a novice attempt.

Please keep us posted on your progress,

How to remove keys for complete cleaning

I've worked on a lot of keyboards and they're all different.
Unless you have the service manual, a good set of electronic tools and have the time, don't attempt it, take it to a keyboard services specialist. If they know what they're doing, you'll get you keyboard back in good working condition.
