CAN ANYONE HELP i'm having a problem keeping the timer from going off and shutting the whole tv off. My kp-46wt510 sony widescreen from 2003 is doing the same thing, picture is bowed in the middle and...

Hi,

Most likely you have turned on the sleep function. 2nd button from the left on the top of the remote hand unit. Keep pressing until "sleep off" appears on-screen.

Or

Timer in user's menu is activated to turn off TV a specific time. Go to timer menu and adjust timer, then push cancel on the remote, this should reset timer to zero. Same with current time, adjust and select cancel, this should reset current time.

If you do not have the original remote, you are in trouble. Service tech will have remote.

It wont turn on anymore. it fires then instantly shuts off, doesnt even flash screen. standby lights still flash and its trying to turn on, just cant get on. you can hear the on sound and then the tv...

Depending on the age of your tv, if you hear a rapid clicking, it seems like your ballast is starting to turn on your tv but it's not able to. (1) Check your lamp, (2) reset the lamp timer, (3) make sure the cover panel is all the way. the positioning sensor might not be detecting the cover all the way in.
Personally I think you're experiencing a ballast problem.

Power light comes on,clicks before picture comes on then shuts of

Yes, it is either that or the "Startup Circuit" is faulty usually it is the associated relay. Thats the clicking sound you hear. When you turn on the TV, the relay is activated along with a timing transistor, the Relay has to make contact within a certain time frame. If the contact is not made during that time frame, the TV shuts down. This is a safety feature in all TV's. If you can get a schematic it will show you where the relay is or, after you unplug the TV and wait 15 minutes, you can take a look inside at the main circuit board, sometimes they mark the area with either "START UP" or "SHUT DOWN" and there you should see a relay.
But a new one usually has to be soldered in.

KV 27S65 Sony Trinitron 27"

So far you have done all you can and you have done everything right. The fact that the TV turned off by itself and then turned back on by itself suggests that one or more solder joints have come loose inside the set. A qualified tech should find this easy to fix, and Sony sets are always worth repairing, so it is now time to have the set serviced by a tech experienced in Sony standard sets.

Tv wont turn on

How many times does the light flash, as there is a code that can give an indication as to what circuit is bad.
