Set the shooting mode to a Creative Zone mode. Press MENU to enter the menu. Under the Setup tab, select [Live View function settings] then press SET. Select [Live View shoot] and press SET. Select [Enable] and press SET. Press MENU to exit the menu. Press SET. The image should now appear on the LCD instead of through the viewfinder.

Refer to "Live View Shooting," Chapter 5 in the manual for more details and the limitations of the LiveView mode.

Can not see subject through the lcd screen

Um, no. EOS Rebel is a "single lens reflex" camera. The display on the back does not show live image. Use the viewfinder above it. After you take a picture, the picture will show on the screen for a few seconds.

Canon eos rebel xsi has black screen while taking pics.It shows the pic afterwards and shows the menu so the screen works but shows black screen while taking a pic

I think it is because the camera has a sensor. The screen turns off so as not to distract you or let light from the screen bother you while taking a shot. You can check this in the manual.

Canon lens locks when taking a picture.

Mirror lockup is probably enabled. You can disable it by going into Menu and then Custom Functions. Select Mirror lockup and disable it.

NEW Canon EOS 450D display not working

The memory card must be in it. If you take a picture without the card in it, it will show for a few seconds then go black. There must be a memory card in order to save the pictures.

My canon xsi takes pictures and shows on the screen but when I go back to look at them it says it cannot play back images what can i do to correct this and are my pictures lost

Your memory card is either corrupt, improperly formatted (can be formatted by the camera in the menu) or you've purchased a fake "hacked" memory card online. Photos *may* be able to be recovered, but the odds are slim.

New EOS XSi LCD don't work

You have to set the camera to "Live View" mode. Check your manual for settings.
BTW, it's usually a bad idea to use Live View mode unless the camera is on a tripod. With Live View you have to hold the camera out in front of you and it's much less steady.
