My husband was ready to throw this game out the window instead of returning it because he was so upset...our poor 10 year-old son was so excited about the gift and then all of the effort it took to get the board to calibrate was ridiculous!! Researched online and lots of people said putting two older batteries into the board with two of the new ones helped. We did that and also had to move the couch into the hall and then it finally calibrated!! Oh, we also turned off the lights for some reason people said that helped as well. Don't give up! Keep trying everything but the two older batteries helped. Once it was calibrated we moved the couch back and it seems to work fine. So far it seems like a cool game.
Return to the main menu and select "Options", then select "Calibrate Board" and follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure to follow the steps exactly and hold the board in the calibrating
