Hello, there could be a number of problems but 90% of the problems with these
Russian manufactured monoculars, binoculars, scopes is the the image intensifier
tube. First they are cheaply made, they don't taken much abuse, and if any
bright light such as, street lights, car lights, turn on the NV monoculars
during the day light hours could and would total damage these Russian
manufactured tubes.
I hate to tell you but there is a good possibility
that the image intensifier tube is bad, sorry. Night Owl Optic and many other US
companies use cheap Russian manufactured night vision devise to sell; of course,
they make a huge profit on these NV devises.
There are a lot of
countries in the world that manufacture NV monoculars and other NV devises. Some
are good and most are just slap together.
If you want a good night vision
monocular be prepared to pay top $$$ for them. Made in the USA, Europe,
England, and even in China.
List it on eBay as Night Vision Monocular and
under condition: broken for parts. I wish you luck. GB...stewbison
these units need a very small amount of light to work at all, They amplify this small amount of light, with no light at all they have nothing to amplify! the infra red is a source of light so it can amplify that, At night they amplify street lighting or moonlight or starlight etc, hope this helps,
Ten year sounds fine. You got ten years out of Russian manufacture NV monocular, even though it has Night Owl Logo on it. Send to me, I new some parts. I can get the gen 1 Russian image intensfier tube, or you can sen to Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX.
Some of use think we know what we are doing with NV but without parts or even schematic for them we are sometime not ability to fix these NV devises. I have a couple of suppliers that will provide some image intensifier tubes; of course, on American image tubes all American Citzens can buy them but they are really expensive. The ccfl inver, control board, and even the voltage multiplier needs to be manufactured.
Do what ever you think is right, call Night Owl and see what the charges. stewbison
Hello, it seems another Russian manufactured night vision monocular has died. Sorry to say, but the image intensifier tube is bad. I really doubt that Night Owl Optics in El Paso, Texas will fix it for you. Because of it age of 5+ years old. Hint: auction it on eBay as night vision monocular parts. Sorry. I would fix it for you but the last one I fixed, it took me two months to find image intensifier tube and it was used. I wish you all the luck. GB...stewbison
Hello David. David you night vision doesn't use any batteries that one installs. You have Kalinka Zenit NV monocular that is Russian manufactured but is sold by Night Vision Optics. Your night vision uses a piezo electric ignitor to charges the batteries and charge a couple capacitors.
The lever on top to the Zenit monocular is activated by squeezing the handle that is covered in a rubber type material. Just keep squeezing on the lever and in while things will start working. Best of Luck David. GB...stewbison
Define 'clear'. Is it blurry? Focus the scope or clean the lenses. Is it distorted? Don't know how to fix. Especially if the lens is cracked/scratched etc. Is it dark/snowy? Put fresh batteries in. Do you see black spots in the tube? Don't worry, certain amount of these are quite acceptable. Anyway: It's a night vision for pete's sake. The picture won't ever be like the one on normal binoculars.
Unscrew front lens front of intensifier tube should have an even bronze tinted coating on glass if it is grey and blotchy the tube is degassed. common fault with this model nightvision wayne
Try to jank it left-right and simultaneously try to force it back to threads (either pulling or pushing). Don't hit it with anything since this may damage the insides.
