Take out the batteries , push the reset button, then put batteries back and try again.
If still not working properly , then it probably should go back to Olympus, if you bought it a few years ago , its probably out of warranty.
You can buy a newer model like the vn-6200-pc , which has way more memory and more features for much much less then it will cost to repair the vn-100 or vn-2000 , f
