If you are asking how to bypass thermostat to make heat work then remove cover plate from t-stat and remove screws that hold base to wall. Disconnect wires to Rh and W and jumper together. This should make heater run non stop. Thank you.

Thermostat fuse keeps blowing

The fuse protects the transformer from being damaged due to too much amperage, this is typically due to the circuit having a short or a device in that circuit being shorted.
See below the transformer's relationship to the thermostat.
The RED wire is the "hot leg" of the 24 volt power provided by the transformer to the thermostats R or RED terminal as pictured below.
The 24 volt hot leg enters the thermostat on R or RED.
The various other terminals White = heat, Yellow = cool ,
Green = fan and Common is the side of the 24 volt power source that every 24 volt circuit terminates or return to complete the circuit.
Thus the common name designated, note hoe everything returns to Common.
Well if we jumped Red directly to Common that is a short and will blow the fuse as you observe.
See the 2 diagrams in red describing a notrmal circuit then a short circuit.

Williams wall heater, lite pilot and heater comes on okay, but will only come off when I disconnect the thermostat?

If you have to disconnect the thermostat wire at the gas valve then it is either a shorted thermostat or a short in the thermostat wire.

If you only have to disconnect the thermostat from the wire, then it sounds like a bad thermostat, replace the thermostat

Overheat

Hi.

First check that exhaust, air ducts and filter are not blocked and free from lint. Make sure that the dryer has proper ventilation.

If there is no lint, there is proper ventilation and the machine keeps overheating, then either one of the thermostat is shorted or there is a contact in the wiring to the heater element.

A shorted cycling thermostat is quite a common fault. Testing is done reading impedance across the thermostat contacts. A shorted thermostat will read zero or an impedance smaller than 0.5 Ohms. If the cycling thermostat is shorted, the other thermostats in the heater assembly must also be tested.

If thermostats are OK check wiring to the heater looking for a contact that can keep the element 'hot' even when not directly energized from electronic control. Such fault is not common in recent appliance models.

If there is no problem concerning heater assembly you may have a defective control board.

3 amp control power fuse blowing

You have a shorted control wire problem with either the thermostat, wiring to the thermostat and or the wiring to the outdoor unit if used. Disconnect all the thermostat wiring at the unit and thermostat use a meter to check for a short.

Honeywell thermostat short and then went blank by mistake i short the thermostat with a wire and then became blank

Check the transformer in the air conditioner/heater. There should be a fuse on teh 24 volt side. Shut power off to the furnace. Locate and check the fuse. If there is no fuse, you probably destroyed the transformer.

I installed a Honeywell TH5220d 1029 thermostat on a American Standard AC/Heat pump and the install and setup went fine. It cooles for about and hour and quit. I found the 5 amp fuse at the furnace...

Red wire to R on thermostat red on furnace and red on heat pump Same with white except w1 on thermostat. Blue to common on thermostat common of furnace (probably brown but will be marked) and blue to common on heat pump. yellow to Y on thermostat and straight to heat pump. Orange to O on thermostat and straight to heat pump. If wired correctly with no shorts fuse problem should be solved. commonly people leave enough wire exposed inside the t-stat for wires to short together. This will blow the fuse. Hope this helps. I understand the frustration.

My Janitrol GU125-4 furnace will not shut off; cannot be turned off at thermostat, and heats the house to 80 degrees. I have to cut it off at the breaker. What is the fix?

Hi, it sounds like you may have a short in the thermostat or in the wires coming from the thermostat. The red and white wires are for heat. If you open the filter door, there should be terminal screws labeled R, W, Y, G and the 4 or 5 strand t-stat wire going to it. Just disconnect the W wire and replace the door, if the heater stays off you have a short somewhere in the thermostat circuit. Unless you just replaced the T-Stat recently, a rodent may have chewed through the wire or a nail pierced the wire, or ???,  you get the idea. You may need to pull a new T-Stat wire.  Good luck and comment back if you have any other questions.

Thermostat short circuit

Any use of a device that exceeds it's designed limits can be dangerous.

It may work for a long time, and it may in fact cause a failure of the thermostat. This could cause melting, shorting, etc, and could cause a fire.

The good news is, you're overloading it by less than 1 amp; so it may not fail right away.

I would recommend reducing the load on the thermostat to below the rated wattage to reduce the chance of fire, and prolong the life of the thermostat.
