If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide

This has happened to me before. Ive managed to get it working again by taking the disc out and then put it slightly in but not so much so that the wii takes in the disc. Youll hear the noise of it trying to take in and then eject the disc. Do it a couple of times and then try putting the disc in properly. Seemed to be there was something in the console stopping it from reading the discs and this may have dislodged it. Not a technical solution i know but it did work for me and my console is now fine.

I just bought my son a new game for our wii which we havent hooked up in a long time. when we enter the disc it pops up with unable to read disc

Be sure you are putting the disk in in the correct direction. I do that all the time where I put it in the wrong way. The labeled part of the disk should be to the outside of the wii.

Nintendi wii will not read some games on wii resort sports resort . it says its unable to read disk and to refer to manuel

Hi there

From what you have said it sounds like you have the DISK DRIVE READ ERROR

The main cause is Hardware failure due to overheating or just simple wear & tear.

You will need to perform simple maintenance to your console

You can send your Wii to Nintendo to fix this. If your in warranty its free. If not the repair cost would be $150 and a wait time of 4-6 weeks

The other solution is what I did and the way more and more gamers are turning nowadays is a Good Wii Repair Guide that shows you how to fix the problem yourself. I have never had a problem with this one so far for over a year, well worth it. Its my most recommended guide online.

Well this is all the help and advice I have on this so good luck.

You can get back to gaming

Wii Problems

I called Nintendo. Our Wii was unable to be fixed by troubleshooting by phone. I'm having to send it back to them to repair or replace. They really were helpful and facilitated everything for me. My Wii was bought in 2006 and had no more warranty on it, however, they charged me $75 + $7.50 in shipping to send it back to them. If it can be repaired, they'll send it back to me fixed, however, if not, they'll send me a new one at no extra charge.

Unable to load games

I have a very similar problem that my wii console gives me black screen with disk read error every time I inserted a new disc that worked previously. The way I worked around this problem is by
1. ejecting the disc
2. powering off(hold the power button for about 10 seconds)
3. unplugging the power cord
4. waiting one minute or so
5. plugging in again and re-inserting disc
This worked every time when I switched disc.
