There are no 8GB SD cards. A card that size is actually an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different. Many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Unless your manual specifically says that your camera can use an SDHC card, then it won't be able to. The maximum size of an SD card is 2GB. If you need more space, just carry a couple of cards and swap them, like people used to do when they filled up a film.

There's adapters that fit in the compact flash slot (where the microdrive is) that take SDHC cards and look to the camera like compact flash. I've got one in a GZ-MC200 and it works fine :). EBAY is your friend ;)

Samsung s1030 digital camera keep showing memory full but have inserted new sdhc card how do i clear this as i cannot take any pics

Clear it by putting in a compatible memory card. The S1030 works with SD cards. Your 8GB SDHC card in not compatible. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just inserted a 8 MB card in and the camera says "Memory card needs formatting" I click continue, then it says "Formatting will delete everything on the memory card", no problem, it's a new card so I...

8MB or 8GB? If it's actually an 8MB card, you'll be able to put maybe two or three pictures on it, so I'll assume it's an 8GB card.

The DX4530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While SDHC cards will fit into SD devices, there are electronic difference that prevent them from working there. SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.

You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just bought a new memory card (8gb) for my digital camera (Samsung NV10) and when I inserted the memory card, I kept getting "Card Error". It said I should format the new memory card and I tried to...

The largest SD card you can use in your Samsung NV10 is 2GB. thats why once you insert the 8GB sd card its shows card error or need to fromat.

FYI. for every digital camera there's a compatible memory card and you can see from the box or manual and Its writen SD or SDHC.

goodlukc and thank you

Have bought a 8GB SD MC Memory card and cannot format it either in camera or on my computer

If your camera and computer do not support HCSD(High Capacity Secure Digital) they won't. The camera will not recognize it and the computer will generally lock up when you insert the card. I have a 2 year old, a top of the line HP Media Center that doesn't support them. You could try a HCSD USB card reader but the camera still won't read it. Otherwise the card may be bad.

Hi there.
The hard drive will be full so you will need to transfer all your videos to your PC then format the hard drive in the camera's menu, make sure the SD card is removed before you format it.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

New sd memory card 8 gb keep formating

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
