I erased some things i didn't think i would need from the mp3 player (photo folder, etc.) and now when it turns on it just says "Load main image failed, switch to recovery mode"

Like most players, the device should contain 3 folders with the name
Music
Photo
Video.
Media is on the player, each type has its their specific folder name (should be int the matching location).
If deleted, make new folder names Music, Photo and Video.

When having problems with making a connection to the computer:

1. On your Sansa player, press and hold the Power/Menu button for 15 seconds to turn the device completely off.
2. Slide the Hold switch so the orange portion shows.
3. On your PC, double-click My Computer (on MAC, open the desktop screen)
4. On your Sansa player, press and hold the REC button while connecting it to the PC.
5. Release the REC button when a 16MB-FORMAT drive partition appears under My Computer (on MAC, on the desktop screen)

For step 1, 2, 3 and 5 follow the same steps as for version 1.
Only for step 4:
4. Press and hold the ( |<< ) button on your player, while connecting to the PC.

First make sure that you can display images on your player; see whether there's a folder named "images" or something similar inside when you hook it up to your computer.
Next, try copying and pasting the image into this folder directly. This should work unless you have a remarkably grumpy player. If this step fails, try any software supplied/ specified. But I don't think you should need any. The softwares are needed to encode the songs in a different format or size. But for images, such modifications should not be necessary.

To get back to the main menu just hold the mode button on the side
for a couple seconds or so. You'll get back to the main menu where
you can use the up or down volume buttons to get to settings and folders.
To see all your folders select the top (root) folder and wait a few seconds.
You'll be able to figure it out from there.

i'm thinking that it has too much info on it, so it ets stuck when you turn it on.

remove ur batery and replace it or download the file archieve.exe and install audible folder.then u can switch on it.

Make sure the image file is in JPG format, or the player won't be able to read it.

For users running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 and above:
With your device connected to your computer, click on My Computer and then click on the icon for your device. If you see a folder labeled DATA, you must copy the photo files you want to view directly into this folder. Folders containing photos cannot be copied to the DATA folder. Photo files must be copied directly to the DATA folder using no other folder.
If you do not see a folder labeled DATA, then copy the photo files you want to view directly to the device. Folders containing photos cannot be copied to the DATA folder.

To erase a music file, you must plug the K3 into the computer, and when a window pops up that says "Open in Folder", "Open with Media Player", etc. Choose "Open in Folder" then go to "Internal Storage", then choose "Music". From there, you can delete by artist, or if you click on a folder that has an artist's name for the title, you can erase by album. From there you can erase by track by double clicking on an album folder.
To erase, right click the folder you wish to delete, and select "Delete".

There are a few different ways to delete songs off your player.

Preventive Medicine: To prevent Windows Media Player from adding all of your My Documents files to the Sansa player every time you connect the Sansa to the computer - Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Set up Sync". When a window pops up, uncheck the box that says "Sync device automatically".

Quick Method 1 - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Quick Method 2 - Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Slow Method, allows more control over what gets deleted: In Windows Media Player 11, the files are organized by Music, Pictures, Videos, Etc. First, you will want to plug the Sansa player into the computer. Then click the Library tab in Windows Media Player. You will most likely be in Music view. You will see two sets of folders in the left-hand side of Windows Media Player. The first set are all the files stored in your computer. The second set of folders underneath the line that says Sansa 1GB Mp3 player (I forget the exact wording) has all the files that are stored in your Sansa player. Click on the "All Songs" folder. You can individually delete all the songs that you want by left-clicking once on the song name in the middle of the Windows Media Player window, and then pressing "Delete" on your computer's keyboard. You will have to repeat this process again for images, videos, etc by clicking the little arrow next to the picture of the musical note on the upper left hand corner of Windows Media Player, and expanding the dropdown menu, and selecting "images"...then "Videos" etc.
NOTE: After plugging in your Sansa player, if you see a message that says "Connect a Device" in the Sync tab on Windows Media Player, then the cmputer is not properly recognizing your Sansa player, and you may need additional instructions from me.

Try plugging the player into the computer and formatting it. This will erase the music from the player, but you have a copy of the music on your computer as well. I think this will solve your problem.
